I challenge anyone of you to give me a straight logical answer. And not a wall of text, please. The question was why therefore the responce should begin with because.

Because of science. period. There really isnt anything I can say... honestly.

Alright then. So far we have one science worshipper."Because of science."
Yes, considering that we are at the absolute perfect distance to support human life, I'd say that science has quite a bit of intelligence.
[QUOTE="OfficialJab"]Because the universe formed that way.elmo90
It formed itself that way? From what?
The chances of the universe "just forming that way" are so small it might as well just be called impossible.
But it's not impossible because it happened. Your asking the question proves you know it.[QUOTE="OfficialJab"]Because the universe formed that way.elmo90

from the scientific prediction called "the big bang" and im sure its not science this "big bang"... but yeah....
the sun being away from the earth at the right distance was pretty much a flook.... the earth orbits around the sun keeping its distance.. there is a right ammont of heat on earth which life can form... im sure many more of these planets are out there...
Because every time someone touches themselves in an naughty way, the sun drifts further away from the Earth. Case closed.

That theory is disproven. Had it been true, we'd be a planet of ice by now.

But it's not impossible because it happened. Your asking the question proves you know it. So you're telling me that you know, for a fact, that the universe randomly formed in such a way that we are in the perfect situation regardless of almost impossible odds? Sounds an aweful lot to me like nature has some sort of bias towards us or something. Because in a completely lifeless, mindless random chunk of existance, that would never happen.Geez it's 3:30... I'm going to bed.

It's just drifting REALLY slowly........?
Oh well. At least I tried. :)
Why is the sky blue? The grass green? Why is water liquid? I don't get why you are asking this...It's like those three questions...pointless ...funkadelichika
the sky is actully not blue, its purple cause the what is really is and how it made blue is the sun reflexin the chemicals and the ground. the rest is stupid.. anyways
the sun is center of the universe and the planets are roating around the sun. the reason why its soo far aways cause the grativy and every year we get closer to the sun so we'll ended up like mercury. the mars will be the next earth in billion years.. but the black hole will come before the earth get destroy by the sun.. and more crap to it yeah...

IN ADDITION TO THIS!!!!
since there are a 123091898567536563457637735634563573736578684686582340985723049857 (probably more) stars/planets out there, the odds are good...

Ok I lied I'm not going to bed yet.
Why is the sun's gravitational pull so perfect, then? These questions will lead you back around, because that whole argument is based off circular reasoning.
Honestly you haven't given us any good reasoning either so how can you sit there and just disprove things without actually giving a reason and instead just spouting philosophical jargon? If it was 94 million miles away, Earth would eventually drift away because there isn't enough of a gravitational force to keep it orbiting. If it was 92 million miles away, eventually Earth would fall into the Sun because the Earth wont revolve fast enough to stay in orbit.
the sun's not 93*10^6 miles away; it varies depending on where we are on our elliptical orbit around it.
but if you want a physics-based answer: it's all to do with gravity and orbits. if you have a central body (sun) with satellites (planets) orbiting it, to each speed there is one specific correspondiing orbit and vice-versa.
so the sun's (at one point) 93*10^6 miles away, because we travel at X miles an hour (don't know exact speed).
the other side is we travel at X miles an hour because we're (at one point) 93*10^6 miles away from the sun on our elliptical orbit with the sun being one of its focus points.
these theories are proven, so don't start trying to be clever with words again; i WILL own you!
LMFAO. You are such a newb. Centrifugal force doesn't even existBecause the earth's mass is much smaller than the sun so the earth has to be at this distance and travel at this speed to avoid getting pulled in or pushed away from the sun. At this distance, the centifugal force and the centripitle force are equal.

Because it is.
That's really all there is to it.

It's not the absolute perfect, its favorable.

Coincidence.
If you want a better explanation, look at the post bellow mine.
Because 93 million miles out, there just happened to be something large enough whose gravity pulled in matter around it to form a planet. Or more simply, for the same reason the other planets are their distances from the sun.Why is the sun 93 million miles away from the Earth?
