I'm bored...so I'm just reading articles on Wikipedia and I came across this. If you read the article it'll tell you that 7 million americans are either in jail, on probation or on parole. 60% are black, 20% hispanic, 10% white, and just 5 % asian. I'm asian american myself i was born here so were my parents and I feel uneasy that asians only account for 5% of the crimes. I mean aren't humans all the same? there is good people and bad people regardless of race. So why are asians at the bottom of violence. Many asian countries have been in wars, there are asian gangs who commit heinous acts, etc. I can be just as violent as the nuttiest criminal in federal prison. I feel that it's inproportionate with reality. Most asians i know smoke, dropped out of high school, some even live in projects. Do these statistics seem weird to any of you?

As an Asian myself, I have to say this is true.

The guys at my old school who are asian are nothing more than a bunch of internet tough guys that act like Zeus at the keyboard and loudmouths in reality, but never have the guts to even raise a fist. Heh...:roll:

Well, actually, not really. Non-Hispanic white people make up 66% of the American population but account for only 13% of incarcerations, while Asians are at about 5% in both metrics. Compared to their percentage of the total population, non-Hispanic white people are actually the most disproportionately less likely to be incarcerated out of anyone.

(One could certainly make an argument that incarceration rates are not representative of the crime rates of each demographic, though.)

It's because they're mostly ninjas and get away with it. Most of those unsolved crimes? Probably done by an Asian.

First off, according to those numbers, unless there are half as many Asians as Whites in the U.S. (and there are not), individual Whites are far less likely to be in jail, or on probation/parole than Asians. Your interpretation of the data puzzles me as you didn't account of how much of the population is made up by each demographic. Secondly, as Gabu said, cultural and economic factors plays a major role in the disparity of crime rates. Thirdly, I don't understand the notion of caring about race. These sorts of statistics are neither something to be proud or ashamed of.

That's a bloody brillaint day for Asian Americans.

If you want to live the life of a lowlife scum criminal, go to an ethnic (that's not yours) neighborhood and start insulting everybody. If you don't get beat up and learn your lesson then you're on your way. If you land in prison, then you get to see what it's like to be someone's honey/girlfriend. If you're like most Asian-Americans in build and stature, then you'd be perfect. You'll be very popular with the guys.

I've been to South Korea. I remember a short (5 ft height? Maybe not even) Korean laborer carry my full-size refrigerator on his back up the stairs 5 stories into my apartment. I remember thinking about being careful not to insult the guy.

2. Black people are in prison for a reason.

That is stupid. Black people commit crimes more, we know that but it's not because it's in their natureor in an Asians nature to not commit crime. So why? A whole bunch of factors go into this. African socially/technologically,culturally are not as advance as the west or east, especially in the past hundreds of years when coming to America as slaves and given ample opportunity to succeed which in turn made many look towards crime. So then why are asians so sucessful and commit less crime?

Religiously confucius teachings have held education as the benefactor in having a good life so when coming to western countries with this mindset intheir parents/ancestors push them to succeed resulting in less crimes because they are in a less desperate situation. It's certainly better then always being represented as thief like africans or as a drug dealer like hispanics do.
