It's not that hard to rack up posts and gain levels here. Just make some friends, get it discussions, etc. As you post more and interact more with the site your level goes up faster. Not to mention some people have been frequenting the site for years. It's very easy to have a high post count, level, and life outside GS.
[QUOTE="killab2oo5"]D: I don't get the level system. I'm level 44 with...I can't remember how many. 10k something? But somebody like foxhound_fox has 57k and level 45. Reading reviews and such all contribute to your level.Well...all I do is post.

For posting you have to post of course to get iit up, however everything goes towards your level. reading reviews, making them, reading news etc. all make you go up in level.

Um....:?I don't think it means that they don't have a life, many of them just get into lots of discussions (some heated) and conversate frequently with other users, so posts can add up rather quickly. I don't do either of those two things, really, that's why my post count is the way it is.
[QUOTE="barcodedagent"][QUOTE="mrbojangles25"]I never knew our levels go down too! Crap...what should I keep in mind if I want to maintain it? Don't get modded?I remember when I was like level 42 a year ago, and I got a bunch of level reductions in the span of a few months.
Ahhh to be over 40 again...

ya its a penalty for disruptive posting, i.e. moderation
just watch what you say and you're fine

Reading reviews and such all contribute to your level.Well...all I do is post. You cant be level 44 with less than 10k posts, based on you posting alone. The numbers dont add up. Either you are lying, or someone else has access to your account, and browse the news, stream the videos and read the reviews/previews without your knowledge/consent.
ive been here since 2003, this will explain my post count/level. Because one has a huge post count on a site, does not mean they do not have a "life." Theres no telling if you, TC, or any other who likes to bring this up in a forums, spend 20 hrs on your phone text/IMin/playing games out of GS :|I am level 14, and ive been on since june 08 i only have 260 posts i think but really, some of you are level 40-60! And have 38,000 posts! How do you do it? Do you have lives?

[QUOTE="LZ71"] I know that, but he was asking how his level is almost the same as Foxhound's, but Foxhound posted so much more than him.horgen123There is a max cap for percentage gaining for each level. If you both reach it, your level be the same if you stay here equally long. Posting more doesn't make you go over the limit. Ah, forgot about that part. My bad.
Because, like in real life, some people like to talk more than others. So, when they come on here, they can talk about lots of different subjects, and hold lots of conversations, so they get more posts. At least thats my understanding.LZ71I think a lot of it is prolly "spam" too. I don't mean posting "lol" in every topic, but more so people responding to just about every topic they read with a simplistic answer. It's nothing to frown upon, just saying it's a good way to beef up your post count.
Since 2007 then?[QUOTE="LZ71"] Ah, forgot about that part. My bad. No worries.I should be level 58, but keep getting nailed by stupid moderations that take off 1-2 levels each. I've been in the mid-40's ever since the new point-loss system was implemented.

How do you have posts in the thousands! REALY! Do any of you do anything other than go on gamespot? I think i waste to much time on gamespot, then look at some of you!
iginlawasup
So just because some of us have posts in the thousands, it means we have no life? Yep, makes tons of sense to me. /sarcasm
I think it has.Has it been that long? *sigh*
foxhound_fox
I think I made it to 50 a few months ago...
blah, ur higher than me, get over it
Chris_Williams
Wut, I never said anything about me being higher level than a guy named Chris Williams!
Some lurks to level 60 I believe and still lurks. If 2nd reads this I hope he posts his name.horgen123Yes, but getting to lvl 60 or 50 or 40 or 30 for that matter, based entirely on the premise of lurking only, not doing ANY of the other point giving activities in gamespot? I flat out dont believe it, 30, yeah, i can stretch my imagination to it, but 60? Sure, if you never got around to acquiring a keyboard for your computer? =|
The more pokemon battles you win the higher your post counts grows...duh. The ladeez love a high post count8)MgamerBDit increases your chances..

It all depends on what you're interested in in the site. I liked reading about video games and getting people's personal opinions on what's good, and what isn't. I still posted sure, I just used GS more as an informational site rather than a social hub.Setsa"Lurking: Chiefly Computers. to read or observe an ongoing discussion without participating in it, as in an Internet newsgroup." So you did participate in the other and more point rewarding activities in gamespot. Im glad we got that settled. =]
Im the one who that don't understand you.... and I have a life, but not much of a life.Dogswithguns
Oh the Irony! It's "Im the one whodoesn't understand you"
