My best friend is a girl. We met playing everquest in 1995. After a couple of years I drove like an hour and a half to meet her, stayed with her for 3 days, slept in the same bed as her, never had sex. Even now we still talk on the phone 4 or 5 times a week, she sends birthday presents to my girlfriend, we text eachother, and planning on doing a little trip with my girlfriend and her with her husband and son in september.

She is my best buddy.

It is a shame though we dont have a romantic connection because she would have been perfect for me. But such is life.

This is true. Rule #1 for men: Unless you already married the girl, NEVER marry the first girl you have sex with. To do otherwise is generally for saps.

But yeah, I had a friend that my group thought would benefit from getting laid, and that it would solve a lot of his girl problems. He nailed an okay looking girl. But he made the mistake of staying with her after she walked all over him. And as time has progressed, she has come ever closer to resembling a hippo. Poor bastard. Now we all feel guilty for giving him bad advice.

As for the OP, I've never really had your problem to the extreme degree you speak of. All I can say is that friends of the opposite sex tend to never stick around for various reasons: ie, they are c**ts.
