If all of you don't want friends just because you'll never see them again after high school, that's like saying what's the point of living if you're going to die anyways?

Be social. I know it doesn't help for me to jut say that, but its all that's going to help you. The next time you hear people talking about a party, ask if you can go. If you make a good impression, you'll get invited to a lot more...

I was in the same situitation.
After middle school I moved across the state and went to a new high school.

But I was able to make friends by the first week.
All you gotta do is get out of your shell and not be fake. Sooner or later you'll find people who have the same interests as you.

I like doing a lot of things so it was easy for me to make friends because I always had something in common with most of the people around me.

Investing in high school level friends is pointless. Chances are even if you dont move away you wont ever talk to them after school ends anyway.

Friends in general are pointless actually. With the advent of so many forms of solo entertainment there really isnt any need for personal interaction. Just find a chick who isnt repulsed by you and thats all you need.

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]I kind of feel the same way. I have friends, but I'm not in a group, so I never go out much either. I tend to feel lonely because I just want someone to talk to all the time, but people don't want another limb. You're right.
How can he assume all those things when he doesn't have any friends?
I still communicate with a lot of my friends from where I used to live.

I agree.
For the people who say "wasting" time with friends are probably people who had trouble getting friends themselves in life.
I think it's important to have friends and people that you can rely on.
As the people who say all your highschool friends you'll most likely "NEVER" see again after school ends, that's not true. It's your choice that makes it happen. If you try to keep in touch with them even after school, such as online, phone, play-dates, etc., you can develop some serious friends for many many years to come, and that would feel great.

I've never really had a problem with making friends or getting invites to places, so I can't really relate, but I think it's important for anyone to have them as an important part of life. Not at all "pointless."

Invite them to places.Travo_basic

That's what i was thinking. If noone asks you to hang out, try asking a few people if they want to hang out.

I know how you feel, my family and I moved when I was in middle school (7th grade) and I felt like I really didn't have any friends, maybe I had one or two friends I saw every once in a while but most of the time I felt left out like I didn't fit in. I used to be so bummed out when we picked teams in gym or had to do a group project because I knew no one would want to pick me to be on their team or be there partner. It was like this 'till I went to high school. Half way through freshman year this kid that I was friends with and I sat together at lunch. We were kind of outcasts. Someone invited us to sit with them at lunch so we took his offer and I started meeting people, meeting there friends, and just becoming social. Today I am a sophmore and I get invited about 2 or 3 events every weekend that my friends put together. We will go to the movie or go to a resturant or the mall, things like that anyway it took me four like 2 and a half years to become social. Just try to make friends and it makes it much easier to meet new people.

I'm not going into my details on what I experienced, but its similar. And I do know your pain. Open up, be yourself, and find someone that wants to hang with you. It'll work out from there. Just make sure you take the initiative, they never come to you.

What you have to do is just hangout with them more and then maybe even invite the group out yourself, or have a little get together at your house. Like to make it totally casual, at lunch just say...yeah, I am having a party at my house over the weekend and just see if they want to come over. And at this party make sure: You have a 1 to 1 ratio of boys to girls, it does not have to be perfect, but if you have like a 70/30, or 30/70, it gets weird. Food, have it. Music...make sure you have all the popular stuff on your ipod, sound system or computer. Close off rooms you don't want people going into Keep an eye on everyone without being overbearing...just make sure people don't start going crazy. Make sure people are dancing!

A couple years ago when I was entering my freshman year of high school, I transferred to an entirely different school. I left all of my old friends and haven't really spoken with any of them since. I've been at the new school for two years and I've made a few friends but most of them are more like acquaintances than great friends. I always feel lonely because everybody else goes out with groups of friends on weekends and I never get invited to anything. Even if I do go somewhere with a group, I feel like a tag-along because nobody really wants me there. :(

Also I think I'm kind of admitting this to myself more than you guys.

EDIT: to everyone telling me to join clubs, I'm already in cross country, track, and NHS. I just don't fit in.

Don't stress it, High School is a joke.

60% percent of the world is like this (including me). Don't worry, it'll pass off. In the meantime, enjoy things while you can.
