[QUOTE="SaintLeonidas"]College dont really ever look at your grades before high school, but high school isnt that hard.lcman92
Actually the only hard years of high school are your freshman and sophomore years.
for me it was my junior year.
I just got a quick question. Um, Im soon going to high school and most of the teachers say to do well in 7th and 8th grade because thats what hs looks at. But is the something more specific to this like your grade, test scores and your overalltrophylocoste
uh?? are looking at going to a private HS, cause honestly public hs doesn't really care about anything. They may give some bull about AP classes and other stuff, but you'll be able to test into those classes or you can normally talk your way into em.

My brother said to go to a private hs because its much better and safer and everything will go well but im not sureMiddle school is just prep for High School. None of the grades count really anywhere at Colleges or at High School, unless you want to be accepted into a private high school.thats good advice. but u forgot the most important part of HS..... girls and havin a social life. play sports so u will know a lot of people and be in shape for the girls. get invited to all the parties and pick up even more girls. then study of whateva if u have time leftover.
Let me break up High School into the 4 different years:
Freshman (1st Year): This is the time where you get used to High School and the work being thrown at you. Usually most colleges don't look at the grades for this year if you do terrible because they only care about how well you did at improving in the next three years. Make friends because you'll need them if you are absent from school and need to know what assignments you need to cover. At High School, you need to make sure homework is turned in ON TIME. They may let it slide every now-and-then during your Freshman year because you are still getting used to college work. As soon as you move up a grade, they most likely won't give you another chance. It's not the worst thing in the world if you fail your Freshman year, but you have to concentrate on the other three years in college.
Sophmore (2nd Year):Okay, so far you just survived (or struggled) with Freshman year and you've got a feel for the work you will be getting for the next 3 years. Hopefully you made some good friends (emphazize GOOD friends) and now you are ready for the next level up with work. You may be in the same "core" as the Freshmans, depending on what high school you go to, but teachers will always look up to you to be getting work done and setting an example for the Freshmans. Don't misjudge Freshmans if they still act like Middle Schoolers, you were once a Freshman as well. If Colleges are going to be looking at only 2 of your school years, it's going to be the Sophmore and Junior years (usually you send in College Résumes during your Senior year, which is the 4th year, so they never get to see those grades). Work is harder and grading stays the same. Another tip, in high school, they have what are known as AP courses or "Honor" cores. These help with your grade A LOT but are usually harder to get good grades in. Your GPA, Grade Point Average, is divided between 4 for A's, 3 for B's, 2 for C's, 1 for D's and 0 for F's. If you take an AP course that point goes up 1 point so 5 for A's, 4 for B's, etc. So, in high school, it's possible to get higher than a 4.0 if you have all A's with some in AP courses.
Junior (3rd Year):Â You're near the end of High School, if your school has cores you now have moved up to the "Junior/Senior Cores." From there, you get to meet Seniors who are about to leave High School and are worrying about Colleges. If you are friends with one, it is wise to talk to them about what they plan on doing for college and if they are planning to visit colleges. Work now gets HARDER. Some schools require a "Junior" Project as well as a "Senior" Project, which are after-school volunteer work projects of which you may or may not need to do to pass High School. If you fail the project, you could possibly fail the school year so watch it. If you don't have it, great, just focus on getting A's and working to get work done on time. Teachers now look at you as Young Adults and are expecting a lot from you as you start their courses. Some Seniors may not care about schooling and may sometimes "hassle" the teacher. Don't be like them, be nice to the teachers and don't get on the "bad" side of those Seniors. Another tip for High School: Talk with your Counselor. They are going to be your life-savers for everything you want to get done in high school. They will also help you prepare for College and discuss plans as to what colleges may be expecting. If you have a Junior College nearby, you may want to take some coursess to better prepare yourself with some of College-level work (AP courses in High School already have that level). At the end of the year, depending if you are going to college or not, you may want to take the SAT, which is a test that colleges look at to see how well you are at certain topics. Higher SAT scores results in more doors opening to colleges so work hard and train to keep SAT scores up.
Senior (4th Year): You are almost near the end. The most important tip: DO NOT SLACK OFF. Senior year is not for resting from the other three years. You need to still take all the courses the High School requires to pass high school and then some for college requirements. BTW, High School gives credits to courses, which are tallied up to pass high school. Ask someone before you enter college about what these points are or ask the counselor if you are already in high school. You may also have to complete a Senior Project for passing, which is a little bit more strict and harder than the Junior Project if you had to take one. Start visiting some colleges during this time and see what college you want to join. Keep up the A's and during the year submit some College Résumes to those colleges you are interested in getting accepted to.
Phew, hopefully this helps you get an idea about what High School is like. BTW, I'm still a Junior in High School so I have recent knowledge about this kind of stuff lol. Just remember to keep your grades high in college so you can get into good colleges.Â

You're grades really don't matter to be honest.Account_27Your grades from ninth grade forward are very important depending on where you want to go to college.
You're grades really don't matter to be honest.Account_27Listen to this guy, and i'm sure you'll get your dream Job.

High School is easy, unless you have a hard time with school in general. Junior year is the year you need to work the most on (i'm a Jr. btw). Make you sure take the hardest and most ****s that year because colleges focus on that year the MOST. Do afterschool activities and sports.
Don't worry about getting beat up. That never happens, unless you are an annoying freshie, or just like to pick fights with people. Also, dont try to talk and hang with upper****en when you are a freshman, because YOU ARE ANNOYING. Be good freshmen and SHUT UP.
Um... don't get lost in the hallways. DO YOUR WORK, teacher might ACTUALLY not allow you to turn it in late! *gasp* Seriously, if you just do all your work, you will have no problem in high school.
Just don't stress about high school. It's not as hard or bad as it seems. HS >>>> MS
ok... IGNORE VIDEOGAMR25 ... or whoever it was that dissected HS. Well, don't ignore it, he just exaggerated it.I totally agree, highschool is a breeze as long as you hand your work in on time and hang out with the right kind of people. I personally had no trouble in highschool since thankfully I was a gifted student, but yes the freshman years do require lots of work, just like every other year that precedes it.
High school is just like middle school, except the kids get more mature and grow up. It's WAAAAY better than middle school. Cliques become more accepting and the teaches are generally cooler, because you can have an intelligent conversation with them.Â

WTF are you talking about if anything the kids get a hell of a lot more dumber and the teavhers hardly give a rats ass just as long as you shut up and do the bare minimal

Unless you're going to a private HS, your MS grades dont matter. As long you passed 8th grade, you're good to go. Also, while we're on the topic of lies about HS told by MS teachers: HS teachers don't care if you write in print or cursive. In fact, the teachers I had in HS discourged us from writing in cursive as did all the writing tests I took.
Anyway, the thing to keep in mind about HS is that unlike MS, your grades matter (if you're planning on going to college anyway. otherwise just sign up for all PE classes and feel free to get by with a 2.5 GPA). And not only your grades, but the classes you take. Try to take the most challenging classes you can, since colleges love that in an applicant (as long as you got good grades) and unless you're an idiot, HS classes aren't that hard. So that means taking the advanced/honors courses and then AP courses when your HS allows you to (my HS made us wait till junior year to start AP classes, though there were one or two you could take in sophomore year).
Also, unlike MS, the social atmosphere in HS is great. By your junior year there shouldnt be anymore teasing/harrasment/etc (unless you go to a bad school). Also, people open up, so there's no more cliques (or at least they're not nearly as excluding). Oh, and nobody cares about brandname clothing anymore in HS (at least at my HS). And finally, your teachers get cool in HS since you're no longer an annoying brat and can carry on an adult conversation.
I just got a quick question. Um, Im soon going to high school and most of the teachers say to do well in 7th and 8th grade because thats what hs looks at. But is the something more specific to this like your grade, test scores and your overalltrophylocoste
Nah, this is a marathon not a spring. Freshmen and Sophomore years are actually really easy. Junior year you hit the hard classes and your Junior and Senior years determine your ending GPA. I would wait until your Junior year to go into overtime and crank out the good grades.
I find people who focus too much on the first 2 years, get burnt out by their Junior and Senior years and end up with 2.? GPA's. I know, i did. Ended with a 2.8 GPA.
Oh and uh....watch out for the freshman hunt...
In my county, in order to proceed onto HS, you have to pass the CRCT standardized testing :?:|...but I don't know exactly what hs looks at because strangely enough, I'm in 8th grade too! :o And I'll a freshman in hs next year!! :o:oFlaming_Ape
I'll be a senior next year. You'd best not run into me in the halls.
