Congrats! Do you keep a dream journal? It will help you to better remember your dreams, and increasing the chance of having lucid dreams.

i was real into lucid dreaming a year or so ago, with my ex.

we did it heaps, i have a bunch of books on it, and how to do it.

i stopped because i was starting to scare myself, and get addicted to sleeping.

but i feel like doing it again :P

Once you've done ANYTHING once, it is immeasurably easier and more likely that you'll do it again.

I wish I had lucid dreams. Maybe a year ago I was really into it but now when I go to bed I think it would be cool if I had a lucid dream but don't really try that hard. I do keep a dream journal but I only wrote down one dream in like a year because I usually only remember a very small part of a dream or I don't have enough time to write it down. When I do write down a dream it usually takes me more than an hour to write because I write for several pages.

Well after killing yourself it's hard to repeat it, well or not.

you take control of your consciousness in a dream (without waking up)

Ah, but how about a suicide *attempt*? I suppose if you succeeded, it would sort of bar the ability to try again.

I dunno. I just did it. *shrugs* I'm not sure whether there are techniques. You just realize you're dreaming, and then start doing what you actually want. Though, to be honest, I prefer to be an observer in my own dreams, when I start trying to control it, I feel like I ruin the experience my mind has set up.

I had my first lucid dream purely by chance. I quite often had dreams where the thought would occur to me that I was dreaming, though. I have them now and again, and sometimes they're quite scary, as I can't work out how to wake up.

Figuring out you're dreaming is the first and hardest step, imo. Oh, and to wake up, I found that thinking something really urgent not related to the dream like "CRAP it's time to go to work" or "is someone in the bed with me" usually kicks me out of dreams. The main point is thinking something that is unrelated, I think.

Sounds kinda dangerous, seeing as if you kill yourself in the dream you die in real life. I'm not sure if I want to be in control in case I do anything stupid that may cause me to die in a dream... but I'm going to try this tonight. The Lucid Dreaming, not the killing myself haha.

I find the best way to work out that I'm dreaming is to try and remember something that occurred before the dream started, but honestly I like my non-lucid dreams more.

Most of the time you wake up before you die, but sometimes your brain actually believes you are dead. EDIT: But I suppose in Lucid Dreaming, if you were to die you could be sure that you arn't dead and your brain wouldn't believe you are dead.

I dunno. This isn't "Nightmare on Elm Street" There's no Freddy killing us in our sleep... I've died in dreams and been fine. Well, I've only died twice that I actually remember. One, I turned into a ghost after being sucked into the sun after trying to save a space ship, and the other I drove an SUV off of a bridge that was all broken in a post-apocalyptic world type setting (with my sister in the car (by accident, of course)) and I got a flashing Game Over screen >_> It was very strange.

In one dream I jumped off a cliff into the ocean. Before I could reach the water, a giant shark jumped out of it and ate me. I woke up with the shock, my body was shaking.

the first day i found out about lucid dreaming i was like oh im definetly doing this so i went to bed and then i had a crazy dream, but somehow i still didnt realize and i woke up that morning like damn it didnt work. that was on like december 10. Then last night i went to bed and in my dream i was walking around my house and i was just like "wait a minute i was just playing call of duty and went to sleep why am i walking omg this is a dream, if im dreaming then i can fly" and i walked out of my house and tried to fly and it worked. then i was flying around my neighborhood for a while and then i woke up all excited. Overall it was a great expierience im just scared i wont be able to do it again.

Crazy. Yeah, I'm not sure I reached the water, or if they act of leaving the bridge gave me the game over. I've never been eaten before.

Creepy, I have had a similar dream. Except I'm on ice and the ice breaks and I'm in the water looking down at loads of sharks. And I'm quickly going down and just before I'm about to be eaten, I wake up and I feel like I just landed on my bed. The falling dream is very common, however, and in these dreams you don't actually die. Your brain takes control of your body and forces you to wake up before it happens, which is why you are in such shock. And for Jandurin, all I can assume is that the dream was you being a ghost and remembering your death after you woke up. Haha I'm just guessing though, I know hardly anything about dream psychology.

It takes a lot of practice for some people, others can do it by nature. Personally, I've been trying to control my dreams and prevent nightmares by trying to force myself into thinking "this is just a dream, if I pinch myself I'll not feel a thing, and then it's time to wake up". I've failed a couple of times with it tho, but I have stopped a nightmare once!

Does anyone know if being woken up by someone else during Lucid Dreaming is dangerous, cos normally my mum wakes me up for school. I'm just wondering cos I've heard that you arn't supposed to wake someone up who is sleep walking cos it could cause them to have a heart attack, and since I have never sleep walked or lucid dream't I'm assuming they are similar in some ways.

theres a diffrence between having a dream and knowing your dreaming and lucid dreaming i think. cause my friend said he knew he was dreaming one time but the dream just went on and he went with it and in my dream i was able to control it.

I never thought he was scary, and the first time I watched Nightmare on Elm Street I wasn't very old. I laughed at him, my brother told me that.... I only thought the little girls were scary

A lucid dream isn't the same as sleep walking. A lucid dream is a dream were you're concious, and you can control the dream.

There wasn't much on Wiki about Sleepwalking

He was a scary character, conceptually. I feel like they made him too jokey to be truly scary, though.

I never thought he was scary, and the first time I watched Nightmare on Elm Street I wasn't very old. I laughed at him, my brother told me that.... I only thought the little girls were scary

You are too young to get scared by it.

Does anyone know if being woken up by someone else during Lucid Dreaming is dangerous, cos normally my mum wakes me up for school. I'm just wondering cos I've heard that you arn't supposed to wake someone up who is sleep walking cos it could cause them to have a heart attack, and since I have never sleep walked or lucid dream't I'm assuming they are similar in some ways.xTheExploited
if your mom wakes you up during a lucid dream you will be fine just extremely pissed lol.

It takes a lot of practice for some people, others can do it by nature. Personally, I've been trying to control my dreams and prevent nightmares by trying to force myself into thinking "this is just a dream, if I pinch myself I'll not feel a thing, and then it's time to wake up". I've failed a couple of times with it tho, but I have stopped a nightmare once!Deihjan

I'm not sure I like the idea of being in control. I think my subconscience can come up with much better stories than my conscience.

Freddy/Jason etc were to terrify the 80s generation. The Ring is for the 2000s Generation :P

well like close ranged and super fast like nightcrawler if there are other people in my dream i wanna like teleport behind them and punch them in the back of the head and when they turn around teleport in front of them. its always been my dream to have that power. And i dont mean like sleeping dream i mean like a goal.

Damn so it's called lucid dreaming? I've done this many time through out my life, but usually when I realise I'm dreaming, I realize I can also wake myself up and usually do. Also there's been times where I'd realize that I'm dreaming and have full control of it and be partially awake and aware of all of my surrounding... Is this normal and those this have a name too? Interesting topic though
