I've got a good one. I was ID'd for a "T" rated game because the woman at the register claimed that it was rated "M" despite the fairly noticeable "T" at the bottom of the case. :?
[QUOTE="Toriko42"]That sucks, they are so strict in America. In Canada I never get ID'd for gamesRingx55for M rated games i do every time.. Except at BestBuy, i sometimes get away... Usually with a male clerk Dude you are so friggin right! In november of last year I tried to buy Resitance for PS3 and the guy at best buy asked me for ID. He siad you have to be 17 to buy this game and I was 16 at the time and I was like FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU! But I went to bestbuy and bought Cod4 from a female clerk and she didnt say ****! Its always the dudes.

Pretty much. I recall saying "Look at the case, it's rated Teen." And her response was "Yes, but it comes up as Mature in the computer." Not only that but I'm fairly certain it was a Final Fantasy game.

I would have just walked out :lol:That sucks, they are so strict in America. In Canada I never get ID'd for gamesToriko42Same. I've bought many 18 rated games.
I guarantee you most cashiers don't care about your ID but some stores require their employees to check ID no matter how old the person is. It's for legal and liability reasons.I'm early 30's and get carded for booze when I am on US soil- you must get carded for for walking down the street- can anyone say POLICE STATE?! The Puritans/Quakers never really died, they just became Religious-Right Republican politicians.

I put the game back down on the counter, said "screw it," and then walked down to another store and picked the same game up, no questions asked.
Just bring your parents with you and have them buy the games for you or have an older friend go with you.
I remember at wal mart sometime some girl asked for my ID because I was buying a nightmare on elm street movie, so I showed her my ID and she still wasn't sure if I was old enough, even though I was. I guess she wasn't too intelligent..So she asked "is that your dad" because she seen an old guy I was with so I'm like "yeah >__>" Shes like alright heres your game, I hate stupid people :x
I've never had that kind of problem. Hope I never do. That's retarded. But Gamestop is the closest shop near me. I would say go to another one and hope its not as bad.
You hate GameStop because they ID you? They're just doing their jobs so they don't get fined and/or fired. That's a ridiculous reason to hate some place.
I work right next to a GameStop, and all the people that work there are very friendly and we tend to talk about games the whole time I'm in there. It always sucks to hear that other stores aren't the same..

Yeah, it's all about liability at the end of the day. America is the Lawsuit Capital of the world. No one cares about personal responsibility or recognisance, it's just about blaming someone else for your (or your parents) perceived negligence/ignorance.

Usually with a male clerk I have facial hair myself so it works out that way. I don't ID'd for a lot of things which comes in helpful. I'm 17 in a week anyways though so I'm free at last!
This. I get carded every time I buy a movie, game or alcohol. I'm 22 and I still get carded for movies. Does it bother me? No. That means I'll look young at an older age. And, I agree with the enforcement of the ESRB ratings. I did when I was 13 as well. My parents believed I was mature enough to play the games, and they stood beside me at checkout to give their approval. And, sometimes, I didn't get what I wanted. You know what that is? Growing up.You hate GameStop because they ID you? They're just doing their jobs so they don't get fined and/or fired. That's a ridiculous reason to hate some place.

That must be just you man. Where I live, the people that work at are Gamestop are all really nice and always try to talk to us about games and stuff. They don't push offers on us too. (AKA The Edge Card and Game Informer Subscription.) The people at are Gamestop always try to help there customers out too, I would know, they have helped me so much here.

That happened to me at Walmart except it was a strategy guide not a game :|That happened to me at Walmart except it was a strategy guide not a game :|Tuky06
Oh, wow. :| It seems like most people who work there have no idea that games are even rated. And those that do don't seem to care. But my dad gets pissed when we shop at Walmart(they aren't union), so I don't do it, anymore. :P
ha ill always remember this onetime at rogers video.. one of the gta games, i think it was SA just came out, there was a big sticker on it saying 18 only ask for ID, i was probably 15 or 14 at the time. so i just scratched it off and went up to the new guy that worked there and bought it. but now that im 20 when i get asked for id at ebgames i jsut laugh and say are you going to sell me the game or not.
Well for me it really depends on what city I buy my games at. Because When I buy the games in the city where I live i get carded.. But when I go to Bigger cities I dont get carded..
Every time I go I bring id every time its the same people. I forget my id than they say no id no game I say dude I just saw you yesterday I bought god of war cmon just sell me the game guy no id no game. So morale of the story always bring id always.
Well you know they are just doing their job.. there are people called secret shoppers who go in and if they dont get carded for things they/the store gets reported and the person could get fired..when i get asked for id at ebgames i JUST laugh and say are you going to sell me the game or not.

I'll copy and paste my view about Gamestop. These views are my opinions and from experience.
I needed to get a videogame, an old but goodie, so I went to bestbuy.com to check if the local Bestbuy had one at stock. They didn't. So I had to resort to crappy Gamestop. My complaints for Gamestop, a so-called store that's "for the gamers?"
1. Used games and new games are the same thing. What's the difference between a used game and a new game? Well, new games are unsealed and have not been opened. When you pick out the game you want, you bring the box (scratches, price stickers, beat up) to the cash register. The Gamestop employee then decides to put a CD in and asks you if you want it laminated. Oh look, an unopened case right behind you, why don't you get me that one instead? Wow! I have nothing against used games, but if something is labeled as NEW I want the thing as good as it was the day it arrived from the factory. The car dealership doesn't give me a car with 10,000 miles on it when I ask for a new car. If you're going to give me that already opened thing, I might as well get a used game. (more on that later).
2. Employees are annoying and persistent bastards. "Would you like to pre-order a game?" No thanks. "Are you sure? If you don't it might be sold out the day it comes out." Listen buddy, I already said no. Halo 3 still had a **** of copies on shelves on release. If I can find a copy of it on release day, then I think I can get the game I want. "Would you like to buy an additional..." Screw you.
3. Scam artists. So, you want to sell your games? Oh, Gamestop will buy it from you for $5, maybe $10 if you're lucky. Oh, look at that. When you want to buy used games they're only $5 off. Wow! Let's cut the middleman out shall we? Let's say you bought a game for $60. Gamestop buys it for $10. They make a $55 profit from a USED game they might have ALREADY sold you.
Now let's take the middleman out. You sell your game straight to a person who actually wants it, let's say from craigslist or ebay or something. You can sell the game to them for $40. You'll get $30 more and the guy gets a $15 discount. A win/win situation!
Argh! I hate buying from Gamestop. I wish there was a game store that actually caters to gamers. I'll just go to Bestbuy. Not only do they give me what I want in a factory sealed condition (they even protect it with a plastic container until checkout), but they don't pester me with questions.
I've never had that problem. I get carded for booze and smokes (I don't smoke anymore, but when I did), but usually only at the places where I'm not a regular.
That sucks. They're only supposed to restrict you from buying mature rated games. Everything else is fair.
That's rediculous. I remember Blockbuster not selling me Tony Hawk's Proskater 2, when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. I just had my dad come from the car and buy it.
Also, if you don't mind. Are you older than 13/Look older than 13? (I think it's 13 to get a T game).
I only buy games from Gamestop when I can find them for a good price. Usually older games that I haven't gotten around to playing. But I never bother to trade in my old games. So I can agree with just about everything the Foreign Guy has said.
