The other day i go in there to buy resistance retrebution i dont have enough ok so i go look around and see madworld i say finaly a bloody game for the wii im gonna get it. i go up to the front they ask me for Id. Ok cant buy anit got one on me so i go look for another game come back with guitar hero 2 i think it was cheap, he asks me for id. I cant beleve it there is no way never happend to me befor i say im never shopin here again and here i am. E-bay forever gamecrazy rules but my question is are there any good sites or stores that i could check out to buy games im tired of having to show my id everytime i buy a TEEN rated game its crazy.

Complain. The guy wasn't really supposed to ask for an ID for a T rated game.

You should always carry an ID on you. As for gamestop, I just buy used games there as a last resort if I can't find it anywhere else.

How old are you? Why don't you get your parents to buy you a game that's T or M? Then again, I don't want to promote childhood violence if you're not old enough. Plus a level 1 and 3 posts in your profile doesn't help much either. But...I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Not all GameStop employees are bad.

I've got a good one. I was ID'd for a "T" rated game because the woman at the register claimed that it was rated "M" despite the fairly noticeable "T" at the bottom of the case. :?

Pretty much. I recall saying "Look at the case, it's rated Teen." And her response was "Yes, but it comes up as Mature in the computer." Not only that but I'm fairly certain it was a Final Fantasy game.

I guarantee you most cashiers don't care about your ID but some stores require their employees to check ID no matter how old the person is. It's for legal and liability reasons.

Just bring your parents with you and have them buy the games for you or have an older friend go with you.

I remember at wal mart sometime some girl asked for my ID because I was buying a nightmare on elm street movie, so I showed her my ID and she still wasn't sure if I was old enough, even though I was. I guess she wasn't too intelligent..So she asked "is that your dad" because she seen an old guy I was with so I'm like "yeah >__>" Shes like alright heres your game, I hate stupid people :x

I've never had that kind of problem. Hope I never do. That's retarded. But Gamestop is the closest shop near me. I would say go to another one and hope its not as bad.

You hate GameStop because they ID you? They're just doing their jobs so they don't get fined and/or fired. That's a ridiculous reason to hate some place.

I work right next to a GameStop, and all the people that work there are very friendly and we tend to talk about games the whole time I'm in there. It always sucks to hear that other stores aren't the same..

Yeah, it's all about liability at the end of the day. America is the Lawsuit Capital of the world. No one cares about personal responsibility or recognisance, it's just about blaming someone else for your (or your parents) perceived negligence/ignorance.

I got ID'd a few years back when I was buying ghost in the shell: stand alone complex for the ps2. and this was at EB games. sometimes they ID you even though you know they've seen you in the store buying an m-rated game more than once.

I have facial hair myself so it works out that way. I don't ID'd for a lot of things which comes in helpful. I'm 17 in a week anyways though so I'm free at last!

This. I get carded every time I buy a movie, game or alcohol. I'm 22 and I still get carded for movies. Does it bother me? No. That means I'll look young at an older age. And, I agree with the enforcement of the ESRB ratings. I did when I was 13 as well. My parents believed I was mature enough to play the games, and they stood beside me at checkout to give their approval. And, sometimes, I didn't get what I wanted. You know what that is? Growing up.

I love Gamestop. The same guys at mine have worked there for years, and I know most of them by name. They're actually cool and know games, and I discusss games with them. Today I pre-ordered Uncharted 2, and the guy asked if I had the beta from inFamous. I said yeah, and we discussed the beta and inFamous for a few minutes.

That must be just you man. Where I live, the people that work at are Gamestop are all really nice and always try to talk to us about games and stuff. They don't push offers on us too. (AKA The Edge Card and Game Informer Subscription.) The people at are Gamestop always try to help there customers out too, I would know, they have helped me so much here.

Oh, wow. :| It seems like most people who work there have no idea that games are even rated. And those that do don't seem to care. But my dad gets pissed when we shop at Walmart(they aren't union), so I don't do it, anymore. :P

I'll copy and paste my view about Gamestop. These views are my opinions and from experience.

I needed to get a videogame, an old but goodie, so I went to bestbuy.com to check if the local Bestbuy had one at stock. They didn't. So I had to resort to crappy Gamestop. My complaints for Gamestop, a so-called store that's "for the gamers?"

1. Used games and new games are the same thing. What's the difference between a used game and a new game? Well, new games are unsealed and have not been opened. When you pick out the game you want, you bring the box (scratches, price stickers, beat up) to the cash register. The Gamestop employee then decides to put a CD in and asks you if you want it laminated. Oh look, an unopened case right behind you, why don't you get me that one instead? Wow! I have nothing against used games, but if something is labeled as NEW I want the thing as good as it was the day it arrived from the factory. The car dealership doesn't give me a car with 10,000 miles on it when I ask for a new car. If you're going to give me that already opened thing, I might as well get a used game. (more on that later).

2. Employees are annoying and persistent bastards. "Would you like to pre-order a game?" No thanks. "Are you sure? If you don't it might be sold out the day it comes out." Listen buddy, I already said no. Halo 3 still had a **** of copies on shelves on release. If I can find a copy of it on release day, then I think I can get the game I want. "Would you like to buy an additional..." Screw you.

3. Scam artists. So, you want to sell your games? Oh, Gamestop will buy it from you for $5, maybe $10 if you're lucky. Oh, look at that. When you want to buy used games they're only $5 off. Wow! Let's cut the middleman out shall we? Let's say you bought a game for $60. Gamestop buys it for $10. They make a $55 profit from a USED game they might have ALREADY sold you.

Now let's take the middleman out. You sell your game straight to a person who actually wants it, let's say from craigslist or ebay or something. You can sell the game to them for $40. You'll get $30 more and the guy gets a $15 discount. A win/win situation!

Argh! I hate buying from Gamestop. I wish there was a game store that actually caters to gamers. I'll just go to Bestbuy. Not only do they give me what I want in a factory sealed condition (they even protect it with a plastic container until checkout), but they don't pester me with questions.

I've never had that problem. I get carded for booze and smokes (I don't smoke anymore, but when I did), but usually only at the places where I'm not a regular.

That sucks. They're only supposed to restrict you from buying mature rated games. Everything else is fair.

That's rediculous. I remember Blockbuster not selling me Tony Hawk's Proskater 2, when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. I just had my dad come from the car and buy it.

Also, if you don't mind. Are you older than 13/Look older than 13? (I think it's 13 to get a T game).

I only buy games from Gamestop when I can find them for a good price. Usually older games that I haven't gotten around to playing. But I never bother to trade in my old games. So I can agree with just about everything the Foreign Guy has said.

The gamestop I go to actually hires gamers, except one of them I remember being a WoW person, he was trying to explain all about it when I wasn't at all familiar with it, it was kind of weird. But other than that its been fine.
