I know I'm only a freshman in high school, but so far I absolutely hate it. They say it's the best four years of your life, other then college and that seems bull to me. Tons of homework every night, a lot of pressure from my parents to get good grades, which is driving me crazy. All my classes are super boring and I could barely stay awake in them. Even though some of my classes are pretty hard and I should be paying attention. My high school is very large with over 4500 kids that attend the school. Though, my friends do make it better, I just really don't see how anyone can say high school is the best four years of your life. I already miss junior high. So, how did you guys like high school? And does anyone have or had the same issues I've been having?

I don't like it either but you got to deal with it, I like it better than middle school though because not everybody hates me.

Well I have to admit. I truly don't hate everything about high school. I do like some aspects of it. Though, it seems like whenever I start to like it something changes my mind immediately.

Anybody who says high school is the best four years of life probably doesn't have much more than a high school diploma. High school was little more than work and getting laid for me but I would never do it again. The only thing I miss is not having to pay bills back then. You'll be alright.

High school was an amazing time to be alive. Lighten up and enjoy it. It should at least be one of the best times of your life.

High school is FAR easier then College.... The papers/projects you guys do are a joke compared to the average college class. No matter how high up you have little to complain your life is fine.... try being a college graduate right now in an economy where 100s of people are applying for a single job.. Be thankful..

Don't make completely absurd assumptions then because the vast, VAST majority of college kids don't get anywhere near drugs (illegal ones).

That's what I've found too. Most of the people that didn't think HS was the best era of their life were the really weird kids or the ones that spent lunch in the library.

I'm not one of those kids. I'm not super popular or anything, but I have a lot of friends that I hangout with. I just don't enjoy sitting in class, falling asleep and being bored out of my mind. Then coming home doing tons hw, then the next day doing all that stuff over again. I run track, which is pretty hard work and tiring, but I enjoy it. Maybe my original post blew my hatred out of proportion, but I hate high school a lot more then I love it.

I guess it depends what your definition of 'little' is. To me, 3-5 hours of HW is way too much, but that's a discussion for another day.

I understand. It's just a large leap from my junior high, where classes were jokingly easy. I complain, but I still try my best and try to make my parents happy. I'll do the same in college, even though I'll still complain, but I'll do it to the best of my ability.

Some days the amount of homework at my school was just nuts. I remember their "goal" was 1-2 hours of homework PER CLASS. It was ridiculous. To me home time is supposed to be personal time.

Trust me, you'll learn to appreciate the actual time spent in high school too as the years go by post-graduation. You'll miss the social aspects, the goofing off, the people, giving teachers a hard time, even some of the stupid drama. Also enjoy those weekends because they, at least to me and those I've talked to, are never as magical after high school as they were during.

I never gave my full opinion on high school, well, I liked the first two year since I kind of got some friends and I wasn't bullied but I found that I was learning things about people I never wanted to learn and this gradually depressed me. I'm in my junior year now and I'm still a little depressed, I'm tired now, I realize I need to work and get good grades but I'm tired. I'm worried about my future and I'm stressed and I'm tired of feeling confused about sexuality when all I want to be is straight! I'm sick of seeing all these people do better than me in all these different things, show me that they are smarter than me and I was actually lied to all through middle school by teachers who told me I was smart and gave me false confidence. Now I have this terrible feeling that I'm not good at anything and I'm not going anywhere in life. I wish these were the best four years of my life but I think that because they aren't I'm pretty much screwed for the future.

High school is FAR easier then College.... The papers/projects you guys do are a joke compared to the average college class. No matter how high up you have little to complain your life is fine.... try being a college graduate right now in an economy where 100s of people are applying for a single job.. Be thankful..

I understand. It's just a large leap from my junior high, where classes were jokingly easy. I complain, but I still try my best and try to make my parents happy. I'll do the same in college, even though I'll still complain, but I'll do it to the best of my ability.

Thats all a parent ask is that you try and trust me you want to do your best, a 3.0-4.0 can be the jump you need to land a job.

I have a feeling he'll probably end up getting into drugs by college, everybody does.:(

Eh, I'm in college right now and I've never smoked, done drugs, or drank.
