Yesterday, while I was at my job (I work at Pizza Hut), A certain co-worker told me to "Shush!", & then I told him, "don't tell me to "Shush!", etc. Then he goes "don't talk to me", then I asked him "what did I do?", then he kept blabbing on & on, & then I said, "you will treat me with respect, & stop treating me like a little baby!". Then the manager told me to clock out & go home. I kept trying to explain the situation to her, & she won't even ****ing listen, talking about "you're getting loud, & it's disrupting my customers!". I was very upset. I just ****ing had it with that place. I should have left there a long time ago. So, basically, he gets away with it! They can go to hell for all I care. I just refuse to be treated like a little child by him any longer.

But Karma will come back & bite him in the ass. Rest assured.

Plus what reason do I have to stick around there for? Their pay is crap, they have me working between 15-20 hours a week, & they don't have any benefits. So, **** that piece of ****.

If you're arguing lound in front of customers, you are a child and deserve to be sent home. If you can't deal with other people and arn't smart enough to keep any issues you have away from customers, you're going to have a hard time at ANY job, not just the food industry.

i hate my friend eareir today he told me we would hang out and i told him i would call when i was done with dinner. i call him, half hour later he tells me he fell asleep. he works a nigh shift from like 9-6am then he ends up doing something so he stays up all day.

Thats not bad at all.

I have a GM who can't do her job worth a damn and even had the nerve to try and subtley suggest I was racist or sexist (she is a black women) after I made a quip telling her how to do her job (and yes I KNOW that what she was doing was wrong and is something managers are NOT suppossed to do).

I thankfully am working with a film production company thats just getting started so once that starts to take off I can dump my POS job at Wendy's...

True. I will agree with others that some of my worst jobs were in the fast food industry. I worked as a cashier for over a year in fast food and the managers are way full of themselves.

Psh, you complained about six hours of work and no break? In my lab I have to work 5-7 hours a day on average, no pay, and I get no break (there's no time for one). That's on top of being a full time student majoring in neuroscience. The consequence of all that is that I eat "breakfast" at 7 pm on most days, have "lunch" at 1-2 am, and skip "dinner".

Anyway, my worst job was probably last semester when I started working in my lab under a different posistion. All I did was watch videos of rats for hours on end and record whether or not they were doing a specific action in a particular five second interval of the video. The sheer motonony and boredom was enough to drive a person insane (indeed, I found a pencil one time belonging to another student who had the same job which had been chewed up so badly it looked like it had gone through a wood chipper and had several staples stuck in it as well). However, the job paid $7.50 an hour which considering what I was doing was a pretty damn good wage.

This wasn't exactly in front of customers; this was in the back room. I think that I deserve to be treated with respect from everyone in general. Some people need to take responsibility.

Take the issue to the district that you feel that you're being harassed. Plus talk to your manager outside or in private. However though, this is a job... not a place with friends. Just go there, and stay quiet and only speak to bring good work communication only. Keep in mind that there are thousands and thousands of people who are going to be willing to take your job now and make it work. Be greatful with what you have and take it like a good employee... maybe you are being treated like a baby, because maybe you are being a baby.

That doesn't matter. If I know many food industries, most fast food places has a lot of metallic cooking devices, and sounds can amplify very well off of metal and people will hear it, no matter what. You need to keep good working ethics, this isn't high school where you can get an attitude with people. it's about professionalism. If they want to be immature and tell you SHUSH for no reason, just brush it off and just do your best & work hard that will bring happy customers. Happy customers means job security...job security means money in the pocket. Be more professional and I guarantee you that you will have more respect from people that matter... supervisors, managers and customers.

No, it's because they're acting like pricks that think that they can get away with everything by badmouthing people. I had to stand up for myself, because I will certainly not allow people like him to talk to me that way. I refuse to be some kind of doormat. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. They will either treat me with respect like I treat them with respect, or ****ing else they're going to hear it from me.

I do appreciate your advice, though.

Wow, you are a hero! :o

Seriously, when you got a crappy schedule and a horrible job in a damn grocery, the smartest thing is to open your mouth and move on somewhere else. This summer I was working as a cook... an underwage job... for someone who was supposed to earn more than 18$ an hour for my internship in engineering, but I shut my mouth and I was doing more than 50 hours per week in 5 days... without any break except for lunch...

I was not complaining because I liked the job and I was respected by my boss. On the other hand my grocery job was easier, paid the same salary... but so damn BORING!

Still, I am graduating in a month, it will be the end of my... these salaries of misery.

I wouldn't worry about your job at Pizza Hut. Fast food jobs are ****...they are also disposable. Like previously stated, start looking for a job elsewhere if you hate it. Customer service jobs are a dime a dozen.

This is where you need to draw the line between work ethics and your ego. Yes, people do deserve to be treated with respect, however if there's an issue...there's more professional ways to approach a problem then to "let them hear it".

I've been in your situation many times, but even though most of the co-workers treated me down there, and they thought they were up there, I still got my job done and I received way more recognition from my managers where they were more leniant to favors you may need. Where I currently worked, I was about to get laid off for personal things (plus I had a medical condition), however now I stepped up my professionalism, I drew the line between work and ego, and now my manager praises me with raises and is more leniant to my last minute needs.

From what I'm reading, it seems you have a lot of learning to do.

I wouldn't worry about your job at Pizza Hut. Fast food jobs are ****...they are also disposable. Like previously stated, start looking for a job elsewhere if you hate it. Customer service jobs are a dime a dozen.

For a base salary job, I think you can keep your ego. You already don't earn a lot, you don't need to be bullied by your boss to.

Lol, I did that one time also... I eventually got fired. Little boss daughter thought she was good at something... probably good at getting on my nerve (I yelled to get my break over six hour of job, I was damn hungry).

Grad student? I am lucky if I get 40 hour weeks...

Nope, 3rd year undergrad. Actually more like 2nd year since I chose my major late and am now on the 5 year track as a result. It's funny, when I started this research my mentor asked me to make up a schedule for myself that had me coming in 10 hours a week, as if that was all that was needed. That was a sick, sick joke on her part (not that I didn't see that coming from a mile away though). On the bright side I've been told I stand a good chance of getting a publication once this is over though I can't tell if my mentor is being serious or just whispering sweet nothings into my ear...

Luckily the long hours end next week since the experiment is almost finished. After that I just have to crunch all the data, get a couple presentations thrown together, and maybe start working on a paper. Also, I need to figure out what I'm going to do next. I have a few ideas but they all just reuse the same experimental methodology that I've already done and I'd rather do something new so I can gain more varied experience. Plus the experiment I've been running is REALLY involved and I'd really prefer to not do it again for awhile.

I guess I need to learn how to ignore people that get to me. I do believe that people like you are more understanding about it. I'll try to follow your routine on what you said. Thanks.

Yeah, that could be true. I just know that in years past, the food service industry has always had a high turn over rate, thus a lot of open positions. It could be different now.

Yes, walk in one day to order a pizza with your new uniform.

Yeah! Walk in with your dominoes hat on backwards, then spin it around after you pay for the pizza.
