7 out of 4 people agree.
so what? youre feeling all big cause you took high school precalc. thats not higher level. when your math is comprised of more letters than it is numbers we can talk.
more importantly. no one wants to do math. saying 10/9 doesnt give any real basis for comparisson in their real like because its improper. keep that in the class room.
Mixed numbers are NEVER used in higher levels of math. Always improper fractions. That is acceptable in the math world.
Dawq902
and this is the real world. the job of a mathemetician is to make solutions to problems that nobody else has.
improper fractions imo is better and neater way of saying 1 1/9 but using a larger number like 11/2 is nonsense.
Improper Fractions...
7/3 * 3 = 7
2 1/3 * 3 = 7/3 *3 = 7
Just adds another step, even if it's a simple one.
Here I was thinking you would be talking about advanced math like vector calculus, green's theorem, etc., but instead it is improper fractions. Disappointing.
Agreed, pre-calc isn't exactly "higher level".It kinda sounds like you haven't taken any "higher level" math classes either.

I can honestly say, with 100% certainty, that I have or never will had or have to use mixed or improper fractions while working or in casual conversation with another person.
So, no, I have never ever ever had that happen to me, and never, ever, in the history of my life, will I ever have it happen.

I recently measured the distance of the path I walk my dog onDieDummsteMann1. Why do you have nothing better to do that this?
I mentioned to someone that it is 10/9 of a mile long.DieDummsteMann2. Why does this person need to know how far it is in such meticulous detail? Why wouldn't "about a mile" have sufficed?

Where do you go to school where there's "Higher Level" math classes?
At my towns High School your required to take 4 years of math so its like
Algebra 1
Geometry
Algebra 2
Pre calc and/or Physics

Thats just the standard. If you did well enough in Middle school you could have done Algebra 1 in middle school so then you'd only need 3 math credits in HS. I believe trig was an option as well. Its also a possibility I got pre calc and trig mixed up. I'm not a math person.
