If it wasn't bad enough, I've just been amazing spoiled for the final Harry Potter Movie because some idiot posted the Spoiler in the TITLE of his discussion group. I messaged the creator of the group telling him to learn how to use his freakin' brain as some people don't read the books, they just goto the movie. He pretty much told me to get bent.

What gives people the right to think it's "Okay" to put a big spoiler into a group's title and then tell the people who complain to piss off...

Some people...

(So there's my story of the dumb things some people do. Let's hear some stories from the rest of you.)

I actually sort of agree with him.

The story has been out long enough that if you wanted to know the story, you have had plenty of opportunity to do so.

Not his faukt that you waited. Why should he have to censor himself just because you are waiting for the movie to be released?

You know what? I once heard this one douchebag getting mad because someone spoiled freacking BEOWULF. And this was before anyone had even seen the movie.

Personally, I had no sympathy for him. Just because he's so attention deprived that he doesn't read doesn't obligate other people from talking about the book.

No one has seen the final Harry Potter movie, so how is it possible to spoil it? You can spoil THE BOOK. But once again, the book has been out plenty long enough for everyone with an interest in it to have already read it.

Now if you just plain don't read at all, and you expect me to wait YEARS before I openly discuss the book just so that you get to be surprised when you watch the movie, tough luck.

Courtesy would be to not expect other people to refrain from talking about things just because I am too lazy to read.

Seriously. The last Harry Potter movie won't be released for YEARS. Meanwhile, if you want to know the story, all you have to do is pick up the book.

Which request is more demanding? Expecting someone to read the book if they want to know the story, or expecting someone to wait YEARS before discussing it just because YOU don't feel like reading the book?

Try to keep up.

He WASN'T discussing it with them. The dude got mad because he "overheard" other people discussing it. Basically equivalent to sitting down at a restaurant and getting mad because the people at the adjacent table were discussing it.

How about you try to keep up.

I wasn't discussing this with him. I said courtesy would be asking first. You choose to argue against that with me. I'm not talking and haven't been talking third party conversations.

I've seen your argument style. It doesn't work with me.

Then your comment is completely irrelevant, because you are the ONLY one in this quote tree who is not talking about third party conversations.

Even so, there are people who might not have even read the book yet. The term that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has been out for so long, it's your loss if you haven't read it yet."

Four Months is not considered a long time. People would still slander me if I gave away the ending to some of the darker secrets of Lost. It would make sense if it's been a few years, but four months? The book is still fresh from the printers. Maybe if it was as famous as Star Wars, I could understand, but the ending of the Harry Potter shouldn't be spoiled just because some diehard Harry Potter fans read the whole book in days compared to the rest of the world.

If the whole reason why you haven't read it yet is because you're waiting for the movie, then it DOESN'T MATTER how long it's been out. One day is just as good as five years.

Either way, when you end up getting mad because you overheard the ending, the reason why you hadn't read it yet is STILL going to be "because I was waiting for the movie". The reason why you haven't read it has NOTHING to dowith a lack of time or access, therefore you cannot use "I haven't had a chance to read it" as a reason why someone else shouldn't be talking about it.

I could understand his frustration if the TC was actually intending to read it, but just hasn't gotten around to it yet. But he wasn't, so I don't. Instead, he just didn't intend to find out how the story ends for another five years or so, and in the meantime he expects no one else to publicly talk about it. This would have been true if the book just came out yesterday, and that's why I have no sympathy for his situation.

I remember when people tried to spoil the seventh book. But you know, the movies change so much that it's possible that the version you see in the theatres will be drastically changed.
