wow way to make me feel like a ****ing idiot
just kidding i knew it was "could've" and not "could of"
I find myself correcting that mistake all the time, not because I care, but because every time I do it my 4rth grade teacher's nagging voice pops in my head.
coulda woulda shoulda....wolverine4262All these are could've, would've, should've. Only kinda isn't kind've, it's kind of.
After giving this much thought and looking at words with similar contractions, I noticed that "Kinda" is a contraction of "Kind of". "Coulda", however is actually "Could've" which is "Could have". So most people who aren't exceptionally strong in grammar, would probably just think coulda = could of. th3warr1or
That's not as bad as using "loose" in place of "lose", or "coarse" for "course".:P
Or "ya" or "yah" when it should be "Yeah", or at least "yes".:?
I could of read that, but then again, I could've gotten some yogurt, and I coulda restrung my guitar.GHlegend77I want to ban you so badly right now. :(

I've seen other users resetting like that, maybe is just a glitch. After giving this much thought and looking at words with similar contractions, I noticed that "Kinda" is a contraction of "Kind of". Yeah, but so what. Within most English dialects could've sounds like could of or a coulda. So at this point who gives a damn? Nobody stresses the V. That's the way casual language is, it's gutteral and slang.
You don'tneed to inform of us everything you discover. We're not full blown retarded.
That would of :P been my guess too.I always thought it was just because "could of" is phonetically identical to "could've".

I guess so too, but that won't happen if you know what you're saying rather than just spelling it phonetically. eg; I won't spell soiree as swaray. Generally you don't use words you can't spell or don't know the meaning behind. Could of makes no sense at all. It's like people who say irregardless.I always thought it was just because "could of" is phonetically identical to "could've".

Evidently you haven't been on the internet for very long. :P I see that all the time. There are tons of examples of people just giving a word or phrase their best shot while evidently not really knowing what they're saying. The oft-used "case and point" is another good example (the correct phrase is "case in point").
Yes I know that, but kinda is the exception. Kinda = Kind Of, not Kind Have.it's actually "could have" and "would have"

ya and yah and meant to be said like that thought. The person does not intead the word to be read as the standard yeah. Ya and yah are typically said with some sarcasm or added accent as far I have seen.

Many times I have written "were" in stead of "where" although I know what I want to write but the identicality of their sound confuses me (although "were" and "where" are slightly different, at least in some accents), but I have made other mistakes with words that sound the same even though I know which one I want to use.

I see what you did there....
I don't know. Whenever I use those wrds its just for brevity's sake. I know it isn't much of a difference in characters, but it seems to flow better. I don't use them like that in real conversation though hahah
