If you're talking about the brain scene, I suppose it would be possible, but highly unlikely in a non-sterilised environment, using kitchen implements... Still, that scene was absolutely priceless.

I didn't like some things about the film (didn't know English with an accent is the official language of Italy, and Lecter simply wasn't as scary as he was in Silence of the Lambs), but overall it's a good, underrated movie.

You've ever heard of Silence of the Lambs? That's a bit surprising..... Anyway, Silence is by far the best, followed far behind by Hannibal. Red Dragon wasn't too bad, but it was the weakest of the trilogy.

But if you like good films, you owe it to yourself to get Silence of the Lambs.....

You should put a spoiler warning in the title. Or tag them with the [spoiler*][*/spoiler] things.

I didn't enjoy Hannibal as much as SotL and Red Dragon.

I thought the book was CRAZY overwrought; when Mason Verger made a kid cry, then had his aide soak up the kids tears to put into his martini, I was like "This would be absurd if it was the Joker doing it, let alone what is supposed to be a 'credible' scary guy in an allegedly good novel."

Has anyone here seen Manhunter? It's a Michael Mann film, loosely based on the novel "Red Dragon". I thought it was vastly superior to Red Dragon the movie.

It's kind of funny seeing another actor playing Hannibal Lecter, but he's not the focus of the film anyway, and I though it was almost as suspensful as Silence of the Lambs. So if you get a chance, rent Manhunter. Great movie, in my opinion.

PS. Red Dragon (the film) wasn't all that bad. I enjoyed it a little bit, although it was definitely disappointing after SotD. But my expectations weren't that high to begin with, so I ended up liking it more than I had anticipated......

I know, I laughed at that as well. It seems like TC is one of those people who considers anything made before 2000 as ancient. Still, he must be really young and inexperienced, so I guess there's hope for him yet......

The movie was annoying, it was surreal and kinda "fake" feeling, it didnt convey alot of things that might cause the viewer to emote.

Shacrob

I hated it.

They took the previous movies and turned Hannibal into "the good Guy", and made it a ****ing comedy about people getting murdered.

I hated it. Not only was it morally repugnant, it was also ridiculous to the point of being laughable.

It was a comedy where we are supposed to sympathse with a serial killer who feeds people to pigs, and makes them eat their own brains. And we're supposed to cheer when he catches the one decent guy who's trying to stop him, and spills the dude's intestines onto the street in front of mothers and sons and daughters.

**** that movie. Even Red Dragon, directed by ****ing BRETT RATNER was a far better movie.

And that's saying a LOT. The fact that Hannibal was also directed by RIDLEY SCOTT should be enough to fill Ridley Scott with deep shame.

Horrible movie.

You've just taken the words out of my mouth. I'm glad someone else shares this view. I didn't like it at all. The Silence of the Lambs totally owns Red Dragon and Hannibal.

Red Dragon is the best book and Manhunter is the best film (havent seen the Red Dragon remake but doubt it improves the original)

Hannibal is by far the worst book. The ending sucked and resolution to the Lecter/Starling relationship is a joke to say the least

Your doubt is well founded. Red Dragon doesn't even come close to Manhunter in terms of suspense, direction, screenwriting or acting.

Manhunter is great, and I'm glad I'm not the only person here who's aware of it, but I still enjoyed The Silence of the Lambs a little more......
