I have to get braces on about a month. Does it hurt when they're putting them in?

Firsly, I must laugh at you. Then tell you its incredibly painful, you will probably faint. But they won't put them on while you're unconcious, so they'll wake you up again

Not when they put them in but the ensuing two weeks are the worst

Once that's over it's clear sailing

Worst pain I had ever experienced in my life. It kills getting them tightened once a month too, thank god I don't have those anymore.

It doesn't hurt that much, just don't plan on eating many solid foods for a couple days.

They are not that bad, but they hurt if you need to wear rubber bands.

You haven't experienced much pain then..cause it's really not that bad. It only sucks when you get hit by a basketball in the mouth or something, then your gums swell and bleed and that kinda hurts.

It didn't really bother me. Your teeth might be a little sore for a while but it's not really that bad.

it doesn't hurt that much, just when you go back in like a few weeks to get those rubber bands they put in the back of your braces and it sucks because you're not going to be able to speak very well at first

Nah, they don't hurt putting them in. Only the few days after do they hurt. And when they tighten them...

Your teeth will be REALLY sensitive for the first few days. Be really careful when putting anything near or in your mouth like a soup spoon or whatever lol. When they tighten them every month, they're a little sensitive for about a day. Overall it wasn't that bad, but I supposedly had a somewhat minor case.

They don't hurt, they just make your jaw and teeth ache, quite a fair bit.
You will probably feel pain when they tighten them, however, after the initial pain period, you'll just feel an aching sensation in your mouth.
Well, that's how it was for me. I guess it depends on how pain-tolerant you are.

They will make your teeth very sensitive for the first few days (and hours after tightened), so be wary of that.

After the whole ordeal is over, be sure to wear your retainer just as they instruct you.

It's like a constant ache... until you get used to it (which is pretty quickly).

It's worth it when they get taken off ;)

I was offered them but given a choice as whether or not to wear them, so I refused as it was only for a minor issue and I didnt see in a point in wearing them for a small benefit.

One time I stepped on a nail and had to go to the hospital to get it removed. That was less painful than braces.

I don't remember because I got mine in the 5th grade. But I do remember that it hurts like a ***** when they tighten them. It really does hurt.

It doesn't hurt. But you will certainly feel the difference in your mouth. And every month you have to get them tightened and you just feel it all over again. But I never found it to be painful. Just...there.

When I had mine in, they really didn't hurt at all. Then again, I had a few teeth removed via plyers after anaesthetic had been adminstered, so it might just be me. >_> They sort've feel sore after you have them in at first, and in the future, have them tightened because it's a sensation your teeth have never experienced and it'll take a good few days to get used to it.

I've had braces for 3 years now (:|) and from what I can remember it didn't hurt getting them put on but the next few days afterwards I couldn't eat much. From my experience getting them tightened once a month, it doesn't hurt in either, but same as getting them on; occasionally after the month check up your teeth might hurt for a day. This is because the first few days of getting them tightened thats when they move the most because of the pressure.

It hardly hurts at all when they're being put on. However, they start to hurt a few hours later. Also, it definitely takes some time to get used to them.

I don't think that they're THAT horrendous, but they're definitely not enjoyable either.

I'm sure you'll be fine.
