I only listen to certain metal bands,System of a down to be exact...

wildjango64

I don't think they are metal...

They're more hard rock/alternative metal to me.

I listen to Metal, Folk, Prog, Black, Doom, Symphonic, Death, Power, Sludge, Post, Thrash... I like at least a couple artists from every subgenre except Drone Metal.

dhyce
And I'm gonna have to give you a cookie for the Drone Metal part. :)

Yandere

Nothing Grind or Core oriented as well, not that I really classify those as proper subgenres; they often have much more in common with Hardcore Punk than Metal anyway. I never heard of Slam Death or 'Suicidal Black Metal' Slam sounds plausible, but I researched Suicidal/Depressive BM and the distinction is seriously just lyrical, nothing to do with music... I don't think that counts. By subgenres I probably should have specified "the ones I've actually heard" I guess.

I find Drone to be somewhat... droning. *cricket chirp*

Metalcore is a fushion genre of metal, some people don't consider it metalcore or nu metal to be metal, though. Although, I like both nu metal and metalcore.

Yeah, I'll never understand why they don't consider it metal. Especially when it sounds much more like metal than punk.

World Tour. GHIII had a much better setlist and I'm not getting GH5 because it only has one song on it I like and it's not even that great of a Children of Bodom song.

Nightwish is symphonic metal, and I'm guessing you'd have no problem with that subgenre (it tends to be easier to get into, check out Edenbridge if you haven't heard them).

Power metal is probably the worst metal sub genre, next to nu-metal. Try some good symphonic metal bands.

Don't think so, but there's a lot of bands I have been meaning to check out, as well as more that I have to look further into. On another note, I just got some more money, so I'm thinking about what albums to buy. :D

As far as most people are considered, yes. For some reason though some modern satanists (And Black Metal bands...:P ) have taken it as a symbol of satanism and/or anti-Christianity.

I hate metal, I really can't stand it in the least. I prefer either oldies rock, jazz, or orchestrated classical. I, literally, just don't like modern music at all.TabJSR

If you like classical, I recommend symphonic metal (Therion, Haggard, Lacrimosa, Dark Lunacy, Draconian etc).
