I lost all my respect for my father......

First off let me explain why im writing this thread... My parents own a Donut Store and i work there to.When i was about to fry a donut one of the donuts(in dough form) got crushed an the form for it was ruined.I grabbed it out of the tray and threw it out. My dad then walks up to me and YELLS AT ME! In my head i go....."WTF?" Really. I thought i was being punked.But i let it slide. Work continues and my dad says, "You play game to MUCH! You dont do anything in the house! YOu dont do homework ! You give me no respect" You have internet at home but thats not enough! You have to go sleep over and have fun with there internet! These excuses doesnt even support his reason to yell at me.How is playing video games effecting me and making me be a bad person which to him is throwing a donut away? Also all those reasons he said to me are all false.Im a 3.7 student , i barley play video games. and i give him my dearest respect.I am losing all respect to him.He is really pushing it. I dont know what to do.He did this to my sister and now my sister and my dads relationship towards each other is broken. What do i do?

Be patient and kind, and don't try to get back at him by spewing insults or any act of vengeance. He must be going through a lot of trouble. The least you can do is to not put fuel on the fire.

Does he yell at you all the time or just this once?

Try this, every time you dad tells you to do something say "yes, sir." Do that for a while because it shows that you respect him and see how it goes.

No offense, but if your dad yelling at you is this big of a deal to you, you best learn to get over it.

Well do you do your homework and some housework? He might come across as a bit of an angry guy, but you really should contribute around the house. If you work in the shop then thats a good start, but maybe doing a little bit more will get him off your case.Wolls

Yeah I don't know why but video games really pisses parents off, its like your mocking them when you play.

My mom will rage at me just for playing when I have done everything I needed to do, and I BARELY play....psh parents.

I'll tell you what you shouldn't do: you shouldn't go and stew on the internet instead of talking to your dad.

Anyways man I think your dad is just trying to push you to be better. But he really don't know how to express it except yelling and pushing you to be better. My dad was the will is the same. He doesn't know how to communicate well at all. He just tells me what I suck at and what I'm doing wrong not in a positive way either. I know he only means the best for me but really don't know how to express himself. I say don't take it to heart I think he means the best for you.

I just ignore it when my dad starts yelling about stupid crap for no reason. he just needs an outlet to vent some stress, and you were the closest thing to him who could be that outlet.

My theory:

working with family often times creates unecessarily hostile environments. I think it was possible that your dad was simply having a bad day/ hectic phase and took out his nerves through verbally assaulting you. He probably saw you screw up the donut, which was just enough to put him over and go on a rant...but thats just how i see it

Sounds like more is going on underneath.

You father saw the slow crushing and subsequent abandonment of the doughnut as a metaphor for your life. His anger stems from the frivolous disrespect you showed the hapless piece of innocent dough – how does he know that you won't show the same attitude towards your children?

ouch! no child should lose respect for there parents.
