I just ignore it when my dad starts yelling about stupid crap for no reason. he just needs an outlet to vent some stress, and you were the closest thing to him who could be that outlet.

Darkman2007

thats probably the case, my parents are very similar to that. its really hard to suggest something because some parents don't respect their children and to them the concept of "children are to be seen , not heard" applies. I try to take the moral high ground on matters like that, I could start shouting , but I try to keep myself calm and ignore it. can't say thats the best way to deal with it, but thats what I did.

You're just like me! ;)

You father saw the slow crushing and subsequent abandonment of the doughnut as a metaphor for your life. His anger stems from the frivolous disrespect you showed the hapless piece of innocent dough – how does he know that you won't show the same attitude towards your children?

 Love this.

Oh how I so badly wish to clean up all those grammar, usage, and spelling errors, but I will contain myself.

On topic, just talk things out with your dad and figure out what is yanking his proverbial privates.

Heh, I seem to have the same type of father as you. He'd ***** whenever I screw up at math, even with high 70s and 80s in everything else. I got a 52 at math and he was like "YOU ****ING IDIOT!!! OFF THE COMPUTER!" I'm in college now with nothing related to math, so all I can say is "**** advanced functions".

He even rages at me during my college break, saying I should study instead of game. Who studies on college breaks when the semester is over anyways? You take the crap, pass it, and move on with your life. But then, he never went to college or any post-secondary studies so I guess he's misinformed.

The best I can say is to ignore him. Move out once you are capable of doing so-I don't know about talking to him, because my dad can easily fly into a rage. I don't even talk to him anymore because he's nearly unapproachable even if you do so kindly. I've been tormented by him for like 12 years now by even the smallest things, from not being able to solve a math problem to spilling water when he suddenly alerts me not to-of course, if you startle someone, accidents happen.

oh no, a dad being authoritative! What has the world come to! Seriously, unless he beats you and forces you to drink vats of doughnut glaze as punishment for not tying your shoelaces, then there is no issue.

First off let me explain why im writing this thread... My parents own a Donut Store and i work there to.When i was about to fry a donut one of the donuts(in dough form) got crushed an the form for it was ruined.I grabbed it out of the tray and threw it out. My dad then walks up to me and YELLS AT ME! In my head i go....."WTF?" Really. I thought i was being punked. But i let it slide. Work continues and my dad says, "You play game to MUCH! You dont do anything in the house! YOu dont do homework ! You give me no respect" You have internet at home but thats not enough! You have to go sleep over and have fun with there internet! These excuses doesnt even support his reason to yell at me.How is playing video games effecting me and making me be a bad person which to him is throwing a donut away? Also all those reasons he said to me are all false.Im a 3.7 student , i barley play video games. and i give him my dearest respect.I am losing all respect to him.He is really pushing it. I dont know what to do.He did this to my sister and now my sister and my dads relationship towards each other is broken. What do i do?

if what your saying is true... then sound like your dad is taking out his issues on you.

Are you telling the whole story? Did you do something prior that has your dad upset with you?

You're dad must be unsatisfied with your overall behavior; that one incident where you ruined that donut finally pushed him over the edge. Though the way he explained his reasons for being angry may seem irrational, they make sense when you consider things from his perspective. He tries his best to make you happy by doing things that you may not have even wanted, and when you show a lack of appreciation, it upsets him. For example, even though you don't think there's anything wrong with the fact that you use the neighbors internet connection more than the connection at your own home (which he pays for), from his perspective, it seems as if you don't appreciate the money he pays to provide you with an internet connection at home. It seems as if you're wasting his money. You have to understand, your father loves you very very much. So, when you do things that show a lack of appreciation for the things he does for you (even if you didn't ask for them), it upsets him. Do yourself a favor. Whether you genuinely feel like expressing it or not, always tell you're father how much you appreciate what he does for you and make sure to tell him that you love him. My father is dead; when he was alive, I behaved like a typical teenager who didn't show appreciation for the things he did. Sometimes, I was even rude. I seriously regret that. I genuinely loved my father, but sometimes he could get on my nerves. However, if I could go back, I would put up with the annoyance just to tell him how much I appreciate and love him.

If I were you I would just lay low for a while, do your work and homework and keep your distance. He's probably just stressed out about the business. I'm sure if your dad could do it all over he wouldn't have gone off on you like that.
