Ugh, I hate those years. Many of my least favorite people in the world were born during that time period.
Sometimes I feel I should save these threads so that in 10 years when people talk about how great the 2000s were I can bring it up.Sajo7You're assuming GameSpot will still be around in that time.
You're assuming GameSpot will still be around in that time. My life's only goal is to scream "I told you so" at people who no longer exist.
Sometimes I feel I should save these threads so that in 10 years when people talk about how great the 2000s were I can bring it up.entropyecho

Interesting, I always thought it would be Google. :P
Yeah, sometimes I wish I was born about 10 years ago. THat would have been awesome.. the rise of video games, Nintendo's glory days... also, metal was cool back then. :D
Yeah diapers were awesome

and they still are:P
Oh I mainly miss years 1990 thru 2002 though I would have to check to what grade I was in an such in order to remember some of those years. It would befairly interesting if you suddenly wake up at age 7 or something knowing everything you do up to 2010 and todays date at least I think so.
i said 1990-1996 not 1996-1999WitchsightOh, there werent any terrible pop bands before 1996, you are right.
WHAT?! man, the 90s-2000 era was a total disaster for music, Bieber's 10x times better than the music you'd hear on the radio/tv in those times.
Ah, the era of the snes. Good times.

▲ I was playing the SNES when everyone was playing the N64. Around 98. Parents got it because it was cheap and my dad wanted to play, my first ever game was Super Mario All Stars, pretty sweet. We bought the N64 soon after, had great times with that also. Yoshi Island 64, Oot, Harvest Moon, Snowboarding kids, Glover, star fox 64, mystical ninja, oh boy the nostalgia. I did buy a PS1 around this time but my brother and sister broke it. Then the gamecube came along, I ejoyed games for it then, like Animal Crossing, Mario Sunshine, and Harvest Moon, but now I dislike those games.
tl;dr: I liek games. ▲
The 90s were great until I had to get a job. I was still in elementary school in 1990 and in 1996 I was in high school. Had some good times with Super Mario World, F-Zero, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter 2. Still remember the time I got Final Fantasy 6 (FF3 on SNES) and played it from 8AM to 11PM straight the day after Christmas. Also, the countless replays of Super Metroid. I might not have liked all of the music of that era but I listened to Tupac and Biggie when I had a chance (mom wouldn't let me buy rap music but had no problem letting me play Mortal Kombat or Doom, go figure). It's ironic that back then I would get about two or three games a yearI would play over and over but now I have over 50 games (not counting downloadable games) between the Wii, DS, 360, and PS3 that I haven't completed sitting at home because I just don't have the time to play them all. Not to mention Netflix sucking some time away. No matter what, people are usually going to talk about their childhood being their best times. The main reason is because as kids they talk about how much they hate not having freedom but when they finally get freedom the shock of having to pay bills, work, risk getting fired, and be held more responsible for their actions gets to them. On a good note, in the 2000s I met my wife and had my daughter.
What I liked about timeframe was alternative rock which is still my favorite music genre today. Other stuff I liked about that era....
Turbocharged DSMs
Amigas/PCs/Macs

I got shackled (married) and ended my carefree days.
I'm probably much older than everyone here (37) but I don't believe there is a 'best' generation, despite having a fondness for the decades of my youth (80's, 90's). Sure, those were magical times; the internet was born, 3-d polygonal gaming came about, grunge and alternative music was king, and gas was dirt cheap! But the 2000's were an outstanding time as well. Mp3's and mp3 players like the iPod and iTunes got huge. Cell phone use really exploded in the last decade. I caved and finally got my first cell phone 5 years ago, and last year bought my first iPhone --love it. I'm expecting amazing stuf to happen in the 2010's a well. We just need to climb out of this nasty recession. So, brighten up and appreciate the greatness of this decade!

Wow ! You're older than me ! but I agree.
I'm 34.
I miss 1980 to 1986. Those were the best years!
In all seriousness though, we all idolize the years that intersect with our youth. We only see such things through a filter.
Well I was borned in 1993 and my first sight of life was at 98 so I wont know much :P.likeabrick
ugh.. i feel so bad for u, growing up in a justin bieber generation.
i wish i can educate you or something to get out of this horrible time
I feel so bad for you, growing up in the era of New Kids on the Block. I wish there were something I could do to get your youthful mind out of that horrible period of time. :P

Not me. My youth was characterized by disco. Yek. :lol:I skipped my Jr and Sr proms because of that.
As soon as disco ended, New Wave was right on its heels. More Yek. He He.
Late 80's rock and 90's alternative saved me from going insane.

You were just listening to the wrong music. The Cure, R.E.M., The Smiths, Siouxsie and the Banshees-- those weren't new wave and were nothing like "YEK". They also rivaled 90's alternative by a long shot (at least from my humble viewpoint).
Even still, while most of the new wave/pop of the '80s was shallow, I still enjoy hearing it as background music. It reminds me of that time and rose-tints my view of the world.
