Am i the only one that feels like stuff ain't as good as it use to be. I mean just think about it. The old shows, and cartoons were amazing. The video games were better. Back when I was a kid to grow up till I hit 16 then the world hit me hard with depression. Back in the 90s all I worried about was beating the next level. Now I am 23 worrying about work, and girls and money and all. I miss the better days when I was a kid. It seems the magic of childhood is basically gone.... What do you guys think....

It will be okay. As you get older you will have more sophisticated tastes in entertainment, and more freedom.

I love being an adult. Doing my own thing, making money, etc. I get off on being in control.

My childhood wasn't very standard. When I was 8, I had to try and squeeze in video game time between doing my own laundry, cleaning the house, etc. My parents held me responsible from a very young age.

Without the rose tint of memories that tend to heighten impression - no, it's objectively better.

Older stuff seems better because you were younger then.

That's it.

Also its a bit odd to be near mid 20s and hanging around with minors.

Nope, I realized years ago I need to evolve myself so I dont reflexively hang on to the things I like, and hate on things I dont. That leads to a lack of learning in everyday life, and seems to make people bitchy and depressed for no reason.

@forgotten10x: Your hanging out with 17 year olds, talking about how things used to be better, admitting your acting like a kid and only being 23 years of age.I'm sorry to say,you have little to worry about except to grow up and get on with your life.Your not old school like you think you are, your still a kid in many way's.

I can never comprehend why people complain about work and money stopping them from acheiving the impossible things in life like......"watching cartoons, old shows and playing video games".

How much of a grind can your life possibly be that you dont have time to squeeze in a such a mundane list of shit.

Im annoyed that my mrs' wont consider emmigrating to the other side of the world because her mother is getting old and might need care...at least....thats a fucking...diallema of sorts. I can deffo squeeze in an episode of spongebo squarepants though. Sounds like your living in the better days and you dont even know it.

It's actually a trap. A life trap that naturally happens with age. You start to get nostalgic, you start to think the younger generation is wtf retarded. But really it's like that for every generation, my parents and grandparents could not understand my generation. Us kids playing Atari/Nintendo, watching more than 2 hours of TV, not having a job by the age of 10. We were too lazy they said....well, the cycle starts over, just evolves to fit the times.

Fact is, the world isn'g going to hell any more than the kids that grew up in the 60's. We are a product of our environment but are less able to adapt as we age. For example, I cannot get into Cell phones or portable internet services...just don't want it, I think people are stupid for spending so much time staring at their phone and granted much of my generation too do it, but the youth....they can't sit in a theater without checking it while trying to hide it. But the times are different, I'm the one that is unable to change with it. Now I'm just an old pervert, grouchy, get off my lawn old man. But I realize todays shows/cartoons etc are good, only for the youth and not for people my age. We live in a society designed for young people.

It's not always about time, but often the older you get, the less interested you become. I'm almost 40 yrs old, certainly interested in games but I actually play them very little, maybe 2 hrs one week and none the other or I may play 16 hours in a week if a game is really that good then I may not play for 2 or 3 months. I have not played anything all this week but I am building a new upgrade PC....go figure. I have a collection of gaming paraphernalia on my shelves but I am far more picky than ever before and only enjoy certain types of games but I just don't feel like playing them every day. There are also other priorities or hobbies and things that need to get done around the house. So it really depends on the person, if they are married with kids, a house, 2 dogs..etc. Hard to even feel like squeezing in mundane shit.

I also like Spongebob, Ren and Stimpy and tons of old cartoons, but again, I don't often feel the mood to watch it or my wife already hogging the TV. Kids will especially hog TV's. But I just don't care to sit and watch TV much anymore like I used to. Take right now for example, my wife is over there fast asleep watching TV, I'm on the laptop on some stupid forum because it's more interactive than the TV but still doesn't require me to really do much of anything like a video game would. When I'm done typing this, I'm gonna go wake her up and try to get me some before I go to bed. So why didn't I squeeze in a game? .....I just don't really know, after I got done cooking on the grill, I felt too tired to mess with it? Will you get like that too eventually?

But I do know some guys my age that play games everyday still, but they don't really have very much. In fact I think they are all still single.

@pimphand_gamer: I think the differences between your post as TC's are very telling. Tc seems to beleive the present is worse than the past. You have acknowledged that you have made personal choices that inhibit your ability to enjoy those things you used to enjoy.

Everybody faces these issues but its important to take responsibility for the direction that your life takes, simply looking at the past enviously is likely to lead to a missed oppertunity or two in the future im sure.

No way, i don't miss them childhood days. I have no homework, i go home put my feet up. Also i have cars to choose from to drive, i always wanted my license when i was a kid. And have a loving family, and we do stuff. When i was a kid we went no where. I likes where i'm at, wouldn't change it for anything.

Video games were indeed better. I also miss the days when blowjobs in the White House were actually considered a serious political issue.

@always_explicit: one thing that changes over time is friends so yeah you could watch all your old favorite cartoons but all alone now. We can't go outside our neighborhoods rally up some friends for a football game no more.

I try not to think about the past and future. Your suppose to live in the now, it's healthier.

I do miss going to malls as a teen but overall this day in age is far superior in almost every single way. Having far more expansive access to information from the internet, being able to look things up on the phone, no pagers or brick cell phones....

Seriously I loved the 90s and early 2000's but it is more nostalgia than anything. We remember the best parts not the many many luxuries that we did not have access to back than. Be happy you are an adult and not trying to keep yourself awake in school

I miss not being responsible. Experiencing so many things for the first time. I think Uncharted 4 is a fantastic game, yet I enjoyed Super Mario Bros more back 94-95.

I wont fdeny its harder to get friends together in one place as you get older because you dont all finish school at the same time and have a 3 months worth of holidays every single year. However joining a football team in your local area or proactively socialising is achievable by almost all of us

Reminds me of that episode of South Park where Stan thinks everything is crappy, so he becomes an alcoholic and everything is fine again.

This, definitely this. Adulthood can be overwhelming and that moment when you catching yourself telling a child to how nice it must be for him not to worry about things is when you realized you just turned into your parents.

I don't miss being in school, but I do miss the atmosphere pre 2008 years had. The world felt different, in my experiences. Now days' seems like the smart phone age has enslaved most of the populations, at least to me. I guess the government found its way to make us love our servitude.

I've been a father for a few years now... Suddenly my choices not only affect me, but also impact those close to me heavily. Getting a full time job isn't only for my own benefit, but also very much for my son.
