My dog recently crawled under our after we moved into our new house. At first, we thought the worst was that a bit of motor oil spilled on him. I told my parents we should give him a bath, but they didn't think it was a big deal. Bad move. Soon after, I was scratching his back and he got angry with me. On closer inspection, I saw that he had what looked to be a wound. It soon was covered with a black scab and soon started to spread. We took him to a vet, he gave him some medicine, saying all he had was some chemical burns, but said nothing about a bath, so we haven't given him one. Now, the scabs have gotten bigger, are continuing to spread, some are turning red, and one looks like it's spliting. Can I get a second opinion?Blackwolf770
Ouch. Take him to another vet.Â
My parents aren't going to take him to a vet, they think he'll be fine based off of what the first vet said.Blackwolf770
Seriously, if its as bad is it sounds, I dont think you have much of a choice. Tell your parents to get a grip and start looking after their dog, its their responsability.Â

Show your parents what has happened. The Vet Office will know what to do.
Do what someone else said and call (or have your parents call) the vet and eplain the situation, since it seems like your parents may not be that concerned about this you should call yourself. If the vet advises you to bring the dog in then do so, otherwise just wait and see. Sometimes you have to just let these things run their course until they disappear. And what did the dog crawl under anyways? You mentioned motor oil so I'm going to venture a guess that he went under the car?
Hope everything's ok.Â
