He is also manipulating them to believe in falsehoods that would support his cause.

Because getting in good with the dictator usually means your own share of power and wealth in a country that is often destitute. Basically, it's a great way to make money and be a big shot. So basically, your choices are 1. Work with him, make a bunch of money, and be a big shot 2. Live in hiding and fear as you try to rebel, and probably end up dead for your trouble. 3. Do nothing and let the dictator do what he wants.

I remember when we had a social studies project way back in middle school. We were all given an assignment to build a scale model of a Corinthian pillar tower thing, but with a twist. Each group was given a type of government. There was dictatorship, democracy, anarchy, etc. Our group got dictatorship. We received the highest marks in the entire class for our efficiency. Everyone in my group shut up and I gave orders. Feels good, man.

Dude, did u know that Kim Ill is retricted some parts of the internet from their people. Like Nkorea is not allowing any western culture to be seen on the internet for fear that they might see that western culture is a better way of living than a dictatorship world.

Well while they have some supporters they're not entirely popular all the time and often information is distorted in their favor.

Well i know Hitler promised economic rejuvenation and revenge against the French for the over harsh Treaty of Versailles and for the time he was in power he did deliver that pretty well.

There are a few reasons crazed despots hold power.

1. Compliance to authority figures is a natural human instinct. People will often comply to an authority figure's commands even when those commands seem really immoral and evil. Go to You Tube and type in "Stanley-Milgram experiments" to see a good example of this in action.

2. A lot of theses dictator's minions have been brainwashed and indoctrinated. They actually think their leader is a good person who is doing good for them.

3. A lot of tyrants hold power over very poor areas and people. Many join their armies to get a chance at a better life.

They aren't actually dictatorships, they are more an oligarchy. And that is the most common form of government in the world currently.

Yeah, although I HATE Hitler's guts! I guess its respectable for him to stand up for germany b/c it was forced to pay back all that money from the war. It wasn't completly Germany's fault so the treaty of Versaillies was messed up. Germany's currency was worthless cause of that. But in no way he should have blamed the Jewish people for what had happen. That a-hole!

They manipulate the public through means of a "new direction" and then go power hungry and brainwash them through propaganda filled media.

How they GET INTO power is that they say what everyone wants to hear. The people aren't fooled. They know what they're getting into and they think they want that. The would-be dictators just parrot back to the people what the people 'secretly' believe, but say it more forcefully and tell them they have a plan to fix it, and the people feel relieved and happy that their beliefs are being validated by being said by this great visionary, and the people will always bring them to power. How they MAINTAIN power is by distorting the news, engaging in propaganda campaigns, picking out scapegoats, crushing dissent, and indoctrinating citizens as schoolchildren.

1) People don't know better. (Population gets re-educated, newborns are taken away/brainwashed.)
2) Religion/Cult following (people don't think for themselves).
3) People don't care much until the system interacts with them.
4) People are scared to protest (You need permission from government, or else You might get shot).
5) People are forced together/apart. (Government will interfere with all communication. If anyonen thinks You want to oppose, they could get You tortured.)
6) The law is enforced. (People can't explain their oppression against dictator as something good because government defined what is good.)

Isnt that what Obama basically did? Wow, I swear throughout the entire election process, that is what was going one, good thing that we live in America though, so even with a stupid people, the power is divided enough. Public schools in the US have also have the reputation of indoctrinating children.
