We can say that about a lot of movies out there, of using old archtypes that the movie does.. This is just not a fair comparison what so ever, to me it reeks of people who don't even notice that the majority of movies out there are quite predictable with these themes.
I know that, but I was referring to avatar. And I never said it was a bad movie of that's what you're implying.True, but in this particular case the subject is popular AND crap, so the hatred is justified.Anything popular is hated on this forums, so this is not the best place to ask :|

I've never seen this movie, but this is my guess. If I didn't hate you I'd applaud your foresight. >_>[QUOTE="super_mario_128"]I'm sure you'd have more fun guessing how it ends.harashawn
To all the people who are saying don't watch it, you've all had the benefit of making up your own minds. Whether you can debate the artistic merits of Avatar or not, perhaps it would be beneficial (just a little) to check out the most successful movie ever. You know, just so when the kiddies ask you about it decades down the line, you can talk about how it came out in your time, and how you *weren't* a pretentious, haughty critic and saw despite some guys on the internet (all with excellent tastes, I might add) telling you not to.
You're not being forced to put it in your top ten movie list :P The worst that can happen is you come away a little bored, but you saw history that day.

Now I have no problem with people disliking it, it just irks me when people make this comparison specifically for this movie.. And no other..

Honestly, it never interested me. Other people's opinions did not change the fact that I did not want to see Avatar.'Hey kids, wanna hear about the time I saw what was the highest-grossing movie in the world at one point'? Saying YOU SAW HISTORY is a pretty bombastic way of disguising a mundane event. To all the people who are saying don't watch it, you've all had the benefit of making up your own minds. But you do realize that this connection is correct right?[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="-Big_Red-"] I know that, but I was referring to avatar. And I never said it was a bad movie of that's what you're implying.-Big_Red-

But you do realize that this connection is correct right? We all do, but there are lots of movies that copy archetypes.
Everyone only ever talks about it when referring to Avatar, though.
That's why it's annoying.
If it isn't in IMAX 3D its not worth seeing.wstfldYea, it won't be as good on Bluray as the IMAX 3D showing. I saw it last year there and it was an absolute marvel to watch, nuff said'. I bet some IMAX theaters still show it occasionally. Also, Tron at IMAX 3D was just as good, if not better, than Avatar was there.
