I think it's how some have grown up. For example, I've grown up with anime and the only manga I've read is Vinland Saga (epic epic viking manga by the way) and I simply feel the exact opposite; I think you're crazy to find manga better than the anime!

I've tried but the soundtrack, voice acting and colour are simply too important to just cut out.

I grew up on anime and I prefer manga. Manga has better pacing, usually has more detail, and most adaptions of manga are just worse in general. I still like seeing things animated, if not just for fanservice for after reading the manga.

Pretty much this. I find color generally adds nothing. The only artist whose color pages I really like is Takehiko Inoue, and that's because he sometimes changes to a completely different art style and it looks really good. Voice acting is generally crappy in anime too. Women sound like little girls, kids are just plain annoying. The men's voice acting is typically okay though. Soundtrack is definitely good though.

You should read Vagabond. Amazing art, cool story, fighting looks awesome.

Bleach is good, Naruto is terrible, but Shippuden is pretty good once it starts going, and I never really was a fan of One Piece, but I heard it really started to get good during the 3rd season.

Though there are a bunch of other titles that you would probably find intresting.

Claymore

Soul Eater

Black Lagoon

all great action series.

I've never seen naruto but my some of my mates love it, one piece was amazing when I was younger but I don't know how good it is now since I've stopped following it. Never seen Bleach, but watch DragonBall Z It is by far the best manga out of all.

Takehiko Inoue is really impressive to me. He's made one of the best shounen manga, an amazing fighting manga, and a really realistic manga about handicapped. Guys like Naoki Urasawa are talented, but they stick to the same things. It amazes me that he can do such different genres and excel at all of them.

One piece is good as long as you're watching the funimation version and not 4kids.
