I'm watching The Simpsons season 10 on DVD. Third disc, first episode, is the one about a television character named after Homer Simpson. At first, the character was a cool person, so Homer tried to act like him and tell everyone they based the character on him. Well, he's at Moes getting ready to watch the next episode with his beer buddies, when all of a sudden, they changed the character into a bumbling oaf, more like the real Homer Simpson. So the next day at work, everyone's watching Homer real intently, waiting for him to do something stupid.
Homer's offended at this point, and tells him that he won't be doing anything stupid for them, and then he accidentally knocks over his fondue pot spillingcheese all into the control panel. Then it shows a board with all the states, and New York flashes whileLenny goes, "There goes Albany!"
Now, why would a nuclear power station be supplying electricity to any other state but the one it resides in? I believe that the Springfield of the Simpsons is Springfield, New York. I'm sure there's things out there in the Simpsons universe that may contradict this, but this makes the most sense so far. Even if it isn't in New York, based on my power plant theory, we can safely narrow it down to one of the 13 colonies.
