Actually, you'd probably be better off in Canada, but a british accent does attract the ladies.

To be honest, i would stay in the UK. With the way both countries are headed, more (not all, but more) missles will be aimed at the US.

Not all Canadians speak French. If you move to Vancouver Island it's full of English speaking Canadians that are absolutely terrific. And I don't blame you for wanting to move from England...the taxes are horrific and will only get worse if Gordon Brown takes over for Tony Blair...

what about Ireland? Excellent standard of living there. Honestly I wouldn't come here. Not that it's it's horrible, it's just that there are better places and as long as you're moving...

I'm an american. America is a nice country, don't get me wrong, and it's heaven compared to Russia (which is where we moved from...honestly Russia was better of Communist and under Gorbachev than Democratic and under Putin but I digress), but I prefer Europe. Europe is far more liberal (which is ironic), more progressive, more socialist, and more, well everything that I support. There are negatives, obviously, I won't lie, but America really is a melting pot...which is a blessing as well as a curse. Sometimes I feel there is just too much land, too many people, too many clashing ideas and beliefs, and too few people to represent the masses.  Sometimes it gives me a headache just thinking about it.  Sigh, well that was my rant for the day.

Well, if you did move away from UK, it might be best to move where family is. But New York? Good luck with that.

I recommend you move to Chicago, as of the three major U.S. cities (L.A., NYC, and Chicago) that is the most friendly for newcomers. Trust me on this. I've lived in all three.

Passport and a visa; you can marry someone here or go to school here for starters.

Just move in with relatives.  America is very spacey compared to Europe.  And Canada leaches off America, so you might as well go to the strong part of America (no offense, hosers).

OK time for some /threading action.

If you can forget about your life in the UK, ie. friends, jobs, all that, and move to America, go for it. As long as you can get a job in the US, which won't be extremely hard in NYC which is where you would most likely go I assume, and you're confident in this decision, join us in our pursuit of happiness, life, and liberty. Or whatever it is.

Of course there's a way. I'll trade places with you.

You can come live in my house in northeastern Ohio and deal with the high murder and unemployment rate, the failing school system, and bad health care.

Wow, lotta people want you to live in Canada or stay in the UK.

I wouldn't recommend going to my town in Austin, too many homeless and it's hard to get a job here. My dad can't get a 1 year job here either. Tah Dah! We still have broadband!
