Hello lovely people,

So this time I have been invited as a member of 5 to represent my university at the national pro-bono fundraising competition. To be perfectly honest, I have little experience with fundraising, and knowing I could have declined the invite, I chose not to, as I believed this to be an opportunity to gain such experience; I now think am in over my head as other members in the group have some sort of previous experience. Anyway, I know fundraising is now being socially franked upon, which is why I need your impute to device awesome/creative/pragmatic ideas for fundraising.

Thank you Kindly:).

I was thinking perhaps getting a sponsor for a gadget and raffling it out to donors. Cant think of a gadget that would attract enough attention though. Any one care to comment or has a better idea?

If you need tips for fundraising, here is what me and my friends did for a breast cancer awareness fundraiser we had this month (although this is at a small university):

We created incentive: if we reached a certain amount, some of us guys would shave our heads. If we reached higher, the university's bar owner would shave his head, even higher and the dean of student affairs would shave his head. I am currently bald, and so is that bar owner. We have until the end of the month to reach the amount for the dean's head.

Also, we made sure to advertise the fundraiser through posters, but also at every "party" event (student government association launch party, theather club party, open mic, etc...). Also, a few of the guys dyed their hair pink. Definitely make sure to get professors involved too, after all, they're loaded. This is all I can think of til now, but the more people you get involved the easier it will be.

Call random restaurants. Ask one of them for a partial sponsorship for your fundraiser. Cite the noble causes you have (If Any), and make sure to find contacts from your friends or families. Make sure to have the restaurant sign a Contract allowing you to re-sell the food for charity, so they won't pull a lawsuit if you become "competition". Get a license to sell in a stall. (You would need some of your own money for this) Try moving the stall to an area far away from any branch of your sponsor restaurant. Make a menu out of the restaurants best-seller's. Use a little bit more of your own money to start the fundraiser off. (You will only need to do this once) Sell at a slightly increased price. Make sure to be strategic. Make sure not to mention the up-pricing, and/or place your store in a location where people would have no better option than to buy from you. Use the money you earn everyday to pay for the bills for the next day, and keep the rest of the money as your profit - to be used for charity of course. Trust me. I did this when I was in Junior high with a bunch of friends, and made about 28,000 Philippine Pesos, which would be about $700 -- In the Span of 10 days, selling only about 2 hours a day.
