Which do you find better?

I use IE now and it was also the reason why I got a trojan virus named "Vondo"

I've also heard that Firefox is good, but is it really that good?

I'm here to hear what you, the fine folks of GS think about these 2 internet providers,

(mostly because I need to know which is better to use on my laptop, I really need to know the better one...)

If you respond other, then please post your choice (it must be a free provider...)

I love firefox, faster and more secure, but I think really stands out is the customization. If you start using it, here are some must have add ons:

Adblock Plus

Fasterfox

Foxytunes

Download statusbar

Just get Firefox, try it, and if you don't like it (faster speeds, very convenient custom add-ons, less 'toolbars', pop up blocker, better "ctrl+f" search, etc.) then uninstall it.

Supposedly speeds page loading, but I don't think it does anything you can't do through about:config.

It adds some tweaks to firefox code, maybe as other user said it's nothing you can't do manually, but it saves you a lot of time if you don't want to tweak things by yourself, it's really good, try it ;)

Firefox is the best. I can customize it the way I like with add-ons. However, it's kind of a performance hog, sometimes.

FireFox. Like seriously... who wouldn't want this as their mascot?

That and IE is a revolving door for malware. FireFox just allows the user to do so much more and surf so much more securely.

I just added it, it made a diff, but, hardly, it's mainly better when I click a link, but if I click "back" it's the same, but hey, nice add on anyway.

I know what you mean, there are some PCs or maybe bandwidth (like mine), that experience a boost in performance but there are some when a difference is hardly noticeable.

Honestly I stopped using IE about a year ago after switching over to Firefox. I've found firefox very nice with all the different addons avaliable. Adblock & Downloadhelper make it 10 times better then what IE had to offer at the time. I'm not sure if IE has made their browswer better but I love firefox too much right now to change over.

Another good firefox add-on is "linkification" so if someone doesn't linkify their link, well, it's already linkified for ya :D

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/190

There ya go, that should be your last "copy and paste".

(oh, and for those that do have that annoying firefox glitch on GS, use "control+c" to copy the link when highlighted, and then "Control+V" to put it in your address bar.)

My main reason for dropping Firefox: I experienced memory leaks with every version. I miss the add-ons with Firefox, but I'm pretty pleased with Opera. Tons of great features and functionality that Firefox would require add-ons for..but a couple things like the built-in Torrent/IRC clients are a bit half-assed.

No, it's free to download. Although the Opera browser for the Wii cost $5 to download now(it was originally free for a couple of months).

Also you can find fasterfox here.

Memory allocations..technically its not memory leaks, its memory allocations that aren't released back into system memory. They've improved this considerably in Firefox 3 though.
