Ominpotent meaning "almighty or infinite in power"
Really why would he need to rest?

Maybe it was his way telling humans that we should relax and enjoy life, but that it takes hard work to earn it.

This is pretty much what I was going to say. What you have to keep in mind is that the Israelites at the time had been through many decades of slavery at the hands of the Pharaoh. The usual interpretation of why they were told that God rested for a day is that the concept of not working for an entire day was basically completely foreign to them. That's also why following suit is one of the Ten Commandments; it was that important that the people understood the value of rest and relaxation so they don't work themselves to death.
Of course, this is assuming that you want an answer, as opposed to "you're right, I guess the Bible is contradictory". :P
In sodom and gamorrah god comes down to earth to talk to abraham and sits under the shade of a tree
I never understood that - why does he need to sit under the shade, why is he affected
also he asks abraham if the people are conspiring against him, how come he doesn't already know
*understood*
Christians don't have an answer man soz usaaaaaa
You of all people should know by now that Christians have an answer for everything. ;)
Anyway, God didn't rest because He was tired; He rested because He didn't work. It was also meant to show that people need to take at least one day off and not work themselves to death.
[QUOTE="Hewkii"]supposedly he chose to do it, because he's badass like that. what I'm wondering is which day is the supposed day of rest.Dracargen
Christianity ----> Sunday.
Judaism ----> Saturday.
Islam ----> Monday.
Even being a Christian myself, I'm glad someone besides me understands the differences between these three mainstream religions. Most people have no idea that the holy day isn't Sunday for all religions.
Also most people don't realize that Jews actually follow the 613 mitzvah, a list of 613 specific rules stemming from the original 10 commandments.

Same here!
There's really no explanation for this...unless you want to start rambling about BS symbolic meanings.
[QUOTE="Griffo0"]Because he is a fictional character in book. If you think otherwise you're an idiot, sorry.

It's not a "I regret saying it" sorry; more like a "That's just how it is" sorry.

There have been two pages of answers. . . .and God forbid God use symbolism.:| Jesus must really want us to cut off our hands to go to Heaven. . . .
[QUOTE="freshgman"][QUOTE="Darth_Tyrev"]It's not easy being omnipotent, you gotta take AT LEAST one day off a week from that gig.Dracargen
then you wouldnt be omnipotent
Why? If omnipotence is the ability to do anything, then resting is under that category.:|
cool, but he said GOTTA, if you're omnipotent, you dont GOTTA do any thing

About the whole book thing, do you think the bible was like star wars or harry potter like several thousand years ago, i mean just a really wicked cult craze that then spent the next several thousand years on the best seller list?
