About the whole book thing, do you think the bible was like star wars or harry potter like several thousand years ago, i mean just a really wicked cult craze that then spent the next several thousand years on the best seller list?

There's really no explanation for this...unless you want to start rambling about BS symbolic meanings.

Dracargen

There have been two pages of answers. . . .and God forbid God use symbolism.:| Jesus must really want us to cut off our hands to go to Heaven. . . .

Wrong, there have been two pages of halfassed explanations deeply rooted in symbolism.

The contradiction itself is not surprising though, you can just as easily find similar contradictions in other ancient fantasy epics such as the Odyssey and the Iliad. It's probably because authors from that time period concentrated on the story as a whole, and not the details.
