[QUOTE="_Tobli_"]Well it's true that they can use that they use that. I heard that a fairly short fall can be more dangerous than a little long one because of it (getting into position). I don't know if it could survive 7. I have heard one that did 5-6, and only broke it's leg.Tylendal
For a cat, 5 or 6 would probably be plenty to reach terminal velocity. By fairly short, they generally mean 2 or 3 feet.
By the way, here are some funny things to do with cats.
#1. Spin them around on an office chair until they get dizzy, then put them on the ground. They're self righting instinct will result in barrel-rolls.
#2. Put a small box over them, so that their tale is clear, but it covers their face. They will try to back into the open that they can feel with their tale, and away from the object in front of their face. Their rump will push the box along with them.
#3. Attach some packing tape (or other weighty adhesive object) to the tip of their tale. They will proceed to spin in circles, sort of like the donkey with the carrot on a stick.
#4. Turn the lights out and rub them with fleece. This is entertaining for both owner and cat.
Well, there you have it. #2. and #3. are pretty creepy, when you think about how a thinking mammel can go into a loop like a computer program. Discovering #2. was really funny. Christmas day I walked into the room still strewn with tape and paper, and saw one of my cats spinning in circles "Awe, that's cute". I return a minute later and she's still doing it...
We have the same instinct and research ability...You my friend is a fellow scientist..
