[QUOTE="hagadorn"]Apparently the terminal velocity of a cat is around 60mph and a cat falling at that speed and given enough time to react to the situation can land without injuring itself so no matter how high you dropped it from it would survive.hagadorn

Nope.

Thats not a counter argument, where is your evidence to support that it would die?

I get the feeling that if I threw a cat out of an airplane it would not survive. You did say any height, after all.

It most likely would survive, the height makes absolutely no difference to how much damage it will take, its all to do with speed and seeing as a cat can survive a fall at 60mph and its terminal velocity is 60mph then it will survive being dropped from any height as long as it has time to react and prepare itself, its just like flicking a spider from a table, that table is pretty damn high compared to the spider but its terminal velocity is so low that it will survive the fall.

I get the feeling that it would pass out mid flight, and not land on its feet, and thus, die.

There are tons of research on this already. Even saw something about it on Discovery (or was it NG). Just do some research instead of everyone just throwing in their assumptions.

Cube_of_MooN

That is based purely on the assumption that the cat would pass out, an assumption that lacks any evidence and, considering that humans jump out of areoplanes all the time and don't pass out, an assumption that is most likely invalid.

#3. Attach some packing tape (or other weighty adhesive object) to the tip of their tale. They will proceed to spin slowly in circles, sort of like the donkey with the carrot on a stick.

What's the best sized box for a cat?

About foot and a half long. They should need to scrunch up a little to fit inside.

Well there was a video where a cat falls of a tree thats 8 stories tall and after the fall roll around and run away. Its possible, but its in no way a good idea.

I'm not sure. Would be interesting to test the whole, "Cats always land on their feet," theory. I wouldn't suggest doing it though.

this isn't a question about whether they land on their feet, its about the terminal velocity of the can and whether it generates enough force to fatally injure the cat

But naw, only for the ones who are blatant about it. I know we all got our issues and drama, and really I shouldnt feel bad and neither should you. Like I said, the internet is a good tool, but its not a tool to be exploited. Being on the internet does not give anyone the right to be a creep or a thug and being desperate on the internet is just as bad as being desperate in real life.

Would it survive? I say it'd go splat but Braindead_hero says they open their arms and legs and (I quote) "sail down".

I thought it was only those flying squirrels that could do that...

He seems pretty sure about it though so what do you think OT?

It won't die..I threw once a stray kitten from my friend's condo at the 14th floor..it didn't die..It just limped to shelter and is now my friend's cat in the house..We were testing if the "Cats has 9 lives" was true... Vancelvany

your a horrible person! Would you like someone throwing you out of a building to see if you had more than one life? Didnt bloody think so.

Would it survive? I say it'd go splat but Braindead_hero says they open their arms and legs and (I quote) "sail down".

I thought it was only those flying squirrels that could do that...

He seems pretty sure about it though so what do you think OT?
