If McCain becomes president, I wouldn't feel safe.

high compared to what? most of the rest of the western world has higher taxes. oh and that 840 billion dollar bill that both of them signed, where's that money going to come from? why wouldn't you expect both to raise your taxes at this point? Unless you just want our nation to go bankrupt sooner.

HAHA. Lets be honest though they are just going to print another 700 billion dollars (840 with all the pork they added). This is only going to raise inflation rates.

i vote for massive inflation. them my home will become cheaper to pay off in the long run :)

But you will still have the same amount of money you have now. If you have massive inlfation, in 10 years that means that 100 dollars in your pocket doesnt have the value it had today. So while today it could get you a video game and a controller, in 10 years with massive inflation (think zimbabwe) it might get you a loaf of bread.

well, the expectation is that salaries tend to increase as well ( though lagging )...

Well in that then you also need to expect that inflation is all encompasing. They might print a 1000 dollar bill, but youve still got the same problem with paying off a house payment. Whereas before, 100 dollars might be a question of putting that to the mortgage, or getting a nice video game, now its the question of 1000 put to the mortgage, or eating....

Anyway i know you wouldnt really want inflation...right? haha

Actually thats sort of how we got a mortgage problem. The banks said "buy your houses now even though you cant pay for them cause they ALWAYS gain value. So when you sell you can get your money back + some"....anyway

How much experience does Obama have when compared to Palin? He's only been a senator since 2005.

Biden was chosen to bring more experience to his administration. If McCain dies, Palin could do the exact same thing and choose a VP with experience to do what Obama did.

I think the strongest reason he chose her was how she stood up against corruption in her own party in Alaska. Regardless of what you say or spin it, that is admirable and refreshing.

But boy, is she green! Just as Obama was as well and he has had much more time to adjust to compaigning.

And every gaff Palin makes, its paraded through the media. Every gaff Biden/Obama makes, not so much.

I see more comparing of Obama and Palin than Obama and McCain. I think the Dems need to do more Obama./McCain comparisions because something is not right there

This is a good point. But i think the main reason McCain chose Palin (he hadnt even met her), was a political stunt.

But yes, biden has stated 'Hillary is a much more competent, and prepared person for the VP' ...im paraphrasing but it goes something like that.

The thing is, the republicans put the spotlight on palin, the spotlight she shall get... Especially after her blunders. Im not trying to be a ass, but this is just how it is.

You are not being an ass. I think McCain sees Palin as someone more like himself. Regardless of who McCain chose, there would be much criticism anyway.

Biden actually said "Hillary might have been a better pick for VP" than himself. He also said Obama was not ready for the presidency. And lets not forget his FDR/tv set/depression statement which is wrong more ways than one.

Now none of the above holds much substance with me because when you are candidate you are pounded with pressure, information, interviews, etc. You are TIRED.

But the point is if Palin made similar statements that Biden did, you would still be hearing about them. Every mistake she makes is magnified. She does have to fight the media much more than Obama/Biden.

In fact, look at SNL. They have made fun of Obama once compared to numerous times of McCain and Palin. And even when they did mock Obama, wasn't even that bad.

Last weeks was funny and seemed most fair.

How do the Repuiblicans put the spotlight on Palin more than the Dems put the spotlight on Biden? I don't think a party can control that.

Well come on, that's because McCain and Palin are easier targets for comedy! You've got a guy who looks like a white Shrek, and giggles at himself everytime he, or anyone else for that matter, refers to himself as a "MAVERICK", and then you've got Sarah Palin, who is simply a joke of a VP candidate to begin with.

you've got great points. And oh dear you had to bring up the FDR/TV comment hahaha.

Anyway i think the conclusion we can both come to is to not let the media curb our vote. We have to look at the policy of each candidate and their running mate and make a decision from that.

It wasn't cheap for myself to bring up the FDR/TV comment. Could you imagin in Palin said the same thing? If she did, there would probably be websites and t-shirts made out of it. Or what if she said "you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.". She would be labeled racist beyond belief.

I actually like Biden. But to me its obvious the focus on gaffes is slanted.

Before americas birth. Ha good point. Keeping in touch with foreign affairs is a huge part of being president of the US. Look at our economy...and the economy of the rest of the world. So many countries including us depend on import/export relationships. And this didnt just happen with the market turmoil...this has been a part of americas survival sicne the beginning.

Believe me, the jokes are there. Don't tell me all comedic talent in Hollywood hits a wall for the first time ever when it comes to a political figure. I thought when SNL did Obama was funny and could have been funnier.

Funny how Al Franken helps write the McCain/Palin skits and nothing else. Obama is getting a pass, but honestly, I think it would help him if he was mocked a bit because he would seem more real.

Bill Clinton had it easy. Everyone praises him, but he didn't do anything except sleep around and launch a few rockets to distract everyone. Please leave the quote in it's context. America was fairly content to not worry about other nations before 9/11. Times have changed.

When a country is at war, foreign affairs becomes a much more pressing issue. As such, it becomes a bigger campaign issue. Foreign affairs are important in ALL presidential contests, but it is certainly MORE important in times where a conflict is ongoing.

Clinton made it easy for himself by ignoring the first attempt and taking down the WTC. I couldn't believe enough wasn't made of when it was bombed. And everyone is to blame on that, not him alone. And baloney about not worrying about other nations before 9/11. We just got out of the Gulf War in the early 90's.

And I'll make a great point for you: I'll argue Foreign affairs are MORE IMPORTANT in times BEFORE a conflict is going. Let's be preemptive on confict and not reactive. And I don't mean premptive strikes. I mean preemptive diplomacy.

Otherwords, lets work on Foreign Affairs as a much more pressing issue BEFORE a conflict even starts.

You guy are naive to think that if Obama/McCain get into the office they will rules like God for the next 4 years... It's the team behind them that make all the important decision for them, they are merely here to smile. So don't vote for the person, but for the program, even if McCain or Obama die, there will be no change.

Obama, could die before his 4 years and Biden could become president...

How are we safe if military budget is cut, in half maybe even a fourth.

just to point out the obvious; if we cut our miltary budjet by 75%+ we'd still have the biggest military budjet in the world by a long shot.

[QUOTE="heyfunboy"]How many 72 year olds you know that can stand up as long as McCain can?bungie93

McCain survived six years as a prisoner of war, but Americans come up the asinine excuse that he might die in office. Obama wouldn't last a day in a prison camp.

proof or im calling BS...:|

I don't trust 72 year old men to drive a car on the freeway, let alone run the country.

And I say this for one reason, and one reason only. McCain is old, and he may die within the four years of his presidency. If so, that means that Palin would be president. And I just couldn't handle that, I'd move to Canada.

What would you do if McCain became president, and died in office.

Discuss.

lol Well wouldn't say I'd feel unsafe if those things actually happened but leaving this country would look like a great idea if McCain becomes president. I would never trust that man with my country.
