rock doesn't take any talent. all you do is a pluck a few strings and practice singing. if nickleback can become a band and be famous then anyone can
oh look I can play your game too :o
Nah, I not playing a game with anyone..
Because I would rather keep my dignity. Plus I just don't have the look of a rapper.thisguy51Whats the "look" of a rapper? Because honestly, there is a lot of variation.
I don't like rap either but I'm not going to disrespect anyone who enjoys listening to it. All types of people enjoy listening to rap as well as all types of other music. If I was going to listen to rap I'd listen to old school rap such as Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. I like listening to Linkin Park as well which has some intermittent rap in it too. For the most part I listen to Rock though. Bands like Nickelback and such. If you've been paying attention to the bands I've been listing most of them are seen as sell outs and most people think they suck but I don't care. Just as you shouldn't care what other people listen to and enjoy.Yeah, I guess your right, but I still don't like rap (my opinion).
sonic__323
Crap from Soulja Boi and Lil Wayne require no musical talent whatsoever. It does require a combination of stage presence and knowing the right people. You could be a extremely talented musician and still make no where near the amount of money that some of these rappers make. My point being that you have to be marketable to the stupid masses of musically tasteless people who are just looking to eat up the new fad or number one song on the top ten chart. This does not mean the rap as a whole is the culprit but some rappers are certainly a part of the problem and they just happen to be some of the most famous. Of course many people try to dismiss others who expose this truth as "haters." There is no doubt that some of these people are successful and make tons of money, but that doesn't mean that their music isn't bad.
So Moroes, care to take back what you said about non black rappers? Because there is quite a lot of them.Hungry_JelloI don't care to take back anything. The stereotype of a rapper is that he is most times African American. There are a few Caucasian rappers out there but the simple truth is that most rappers aren't white... there might be a lot of them but its almost common sense. Im not trying to start a music or race war here, its just how the media and how most people see it as. Even if there is a few of them, they don't get the same media attention as the African American ones.

Yeah, your right, I need to learn to chill a bit when it comes to talking about these types of things.
Because I'm a white suburbanite from a relatively rich part of west ClevelandaRE-you-AFraidSounds like you're the perfect type to listen to MTV rap.... Not trying to insult or anything btw, it's just I see so many people like what you just described who "love" what MTV puts out.
Wow you act like all other genre's of music are immaculate in their standards, not a bad apple among them.Crap from Soulja Boi and Lil Wayne require no musical talent whatsoever. Yes they do. Maybe not in America(exluding Eminem) but they wouldn't be rappers without the attention.

..and you do? lots of rappers use guitars bass and drums in their music...
Because rap isn't about music. It's about bling, women, and image. GodLovesDeadi agree 100 percent also, there are WAYYY too many people, for example on myspace, that are trying to make it big through rap. I dont like rap, the chances of becoming huge is like 1 in a billion, bling, fancy clothes, and club crap isnt my thing, and im white....that cuts my chances even further down.

damn skippy. Id rather listen to every generic rap singer playing on mtv the world over than listen to a nickleback album.I don't care to take back anything. I can all but guarantee that everyone here who says "all rap sucks and takes no talent" has never actually heard good rap, or is in fact severely mentally retarded. I get that people don't like rap, that's great, but until you either listen to something that may in fact not make the radio, or, preferably, shut the **** up, these threads are going to continue being inhabited by people with IQs that are roughly on the level of the **** that just got flushed down my toilet. I'm an quite tired of the stupidity that always surrounds this subject. People who are have heard good rap and are not severely mentally retarded have enough sense to say that this is none of their damn buisness, and everyone is better off once we come to the conclusion that rap does in fact take talent, even though it doesn't appeal to everyone. CrimzonTidehahaha well thats great.....your only defense against us is that we are a bunch of ignorant retards who know nothing? hahaha just get outta here you sixth grader

oh ok thanks for the link.... ya see, this music is different.....im talking about the rap that you can hear going down the street with the absolutely pointless and horrible sounding bass "BOOOOMMMM WWWWHHOOOOOOOOOOOOMM"......music like that, strictly "gansta rap" (i think you call it) is talentless. hip hop and jazz require more talent (mostly jazz).....you know even some heavy metal bands (like Megadeth) have drummers that used to be involved with jazz groups? you see, there is a difference....and i will give hip hop and jazz bands their credit.hahaha well thats great.....your only defense against us is that we are a bunch of ignorant retards who know nothing? hahaha just get outta here you sixth grader[QUOTE="THE_BRUTALIZER"][QUOTE="CrimzonTide"]I can all but guarantee that everyone here who says "all rap sucks and takes no talent" has never actually heard good rap, or is in fact severely mentally retarded. Sorry, but you don't know anything about rap beyond what mainstream culture tells you to know. Pretty much everything is terrible if that's the way you look at stuff. If you're not interested in listening to rap, that's totally cool, I can understand that, but I've never understood why people feel the need to attempt to degrade and oversimplify something they don't understand with their ignorance.

All over TV, and probably on the radio? I'm sure you've heard just about every bit of rap out there. That broad range of genius would certainly allow you to qualify, and even pass judgment on a whole genre.

Yea, depending on what type of death metal. Sure Necrophagist is full of talent, but other bands, not at all. Just a bunch of fast playing that's all palm-muted. Every genre has their terrible bands, just like every genre has their great bands. And, I don't really see why people even bother trying to compare rap and death metal, as they're nothing alike. Unless you want to include some terrible "groove" breakdowns in which it's just guttural rapping...

oh yea my boii here knows whats up. PUTS, Cyne, Binary Star, CunninLynguists, Sound Providers, J5, K-OsI love it how violence in rap is apparently a massive problem with the genre, but when Marilyn Manson's music gets blamed for a a terrible school shooting, so many people come out and dismiss it entirely, defend an artist's right say whatever they want in their music, and seem to ignore the issue of violence altogether. And how about violence in movies? I rarely see people complain about how terrible action movies are because they are too violent, or they use bad language. Okay, so maybe some of these movies have some artistic value. Sure. What about video games? It seems like violence is basically mandatory in a great game (yeah yeah, it's an exaggeration), but you would be hard pressed to find someone around here to speak out against violence in video games.
Jack Thompson is like some big villain to gamers, but some of you sound kinda like him. "Rap is too violent and they use cuss words!":cry:
I'm not willing to sell out.Bloodaxe726Weak. Don't act like you would have no problem putting the hours and money into making even a trash album.
