"People need emotional energy like they need air. Scientists have found that infants respond dramatically to human touch, and will almost "starve" without it. Quality relationships have been found to be a better indicator of good health than smoking status, weight, or genetics. Even though we can't quantify it, this emotional energy is a very real and important part of our lives.

As children, we get our emotional energy from our parents; just like we get food, water, and shelter. Just as food provides nourishment for our bodies, emotional energy nourishes our souls; giving us confidence and security.

A person has made a successful transition to adulthood when she has learned to provide food, water, and shelter for herself. By the same token, she hasn't fully matured until she has also learned to provide emotional energy for herself.

Many people never learn to produce their own emotional energy and continue to seek it from other people, even into adulthood. When they are around others, they draw energy from those around them to fill their void. This burden of energy fatigues the people around them and causes conflict.

Conversely, a person who has learned to create their own energy is free to give the excess to other people."

if someone has this how would you go about curing it/ fixing it?

In plain English, all they're saying is you have to be able to make yourself happy, you can't rely on others to make you happy. Just look for ways to make yourself happy and content with your life and yourself, be more positive and stop looking to others for approval (does this look good on me? Should I dye my hair X color? Is the food I made good? etc, instead say "Yes, this looks good on me, it flatters X", "X color would look great on my hair and bring out my skintone", "This food is seasoned perfectly and tastes great".). When you can assure yourself of something and not let the opinions of others change what you think, you can 'be your own source of emotional energy' or whatever.

As Erich Fromm said "Man is the only animal for whom his own existence is a problem which he has to solve." People are completely inconsistent, irrational, illogical and emotionally charged beings. We all depend on external things in order to be internally satisfied... simply put in one way or the other we are all dependant on others in order to keep our sanity, though its not guaranteed. You can't manipulate things that done subconsciously through no effort of your own.

People just are the way they are. There's no magic thing you can tell someone to make them more emotionally self-sufficient.

in this part specifically "Many people never learn to produce their own emotional energy and continue to seek it from other people, even into adulthood. When they are around others, they draw energy from those around them to fill their void. This burden of energy fatigues the people around them and causes conflict." it means that they arent able to choose to draw it from others or not. It happens subconsciously and its the way their brain has been rewritten through past events.so everywhere they go they draw this energy and have no option to choose otherwise. how would you cure/ deal with that.

I was reading about this the other day. It's definitely interesting. Everyone's different, but I think the simplest answer can be given with a saying: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Basically, they have to learn how to stand on their own two feet. That's where teachers come in.

Emotional energy is a very psuedo scientific way of explaining it. People are wired to need social interaction. There isn't an actual transfer of energy as the article seems to be implying

Congratulations TC, you are only eight hundred years late on the news.

The same conclusions were drawn from an experiment that was ordered by emperor Frederick II.

Some people are so negative and depressing they just drag every one else around them down. I don't think its negative energy, just negative attitude. But its a good topic and an excellent discussion.

I disagree, try secluding yourself for a long period of time and then try to engage in social circles again, its like ending a fast.

thats reinforcing the whole idea that individuals should be enemies. cus someone can easily denounce another person as giving a bad vibe even if others think the same person is giving a good vibe. regardless being with a annoying person s*cks. im saying theres no universal rule who is a good vibe and who is a bad vibe wen u can find both traits in anyone.

but what if noone finds a good vibe with you? you went through some thigns that made you this way and you take in the emotional energy of those around you and you are not aware. everyone becomes uncomfortable whether close family or friends, so how do you deal with it.

Just see a therapist already, bro. No matter how many threads you make about the matter, OT isn't going to be able to help you.
