if something happens in your body involuntary is the underlying cause mostly to do with brain chemistry?

For example if you excessivly twitch, or you find your constantly stressed out (even when you should be relaxed). Pretty much anything that shouldnt happen but happens unconciously (like twitching?) I guess always thinking as well?

Would these all be caused by certain chemicals in the body being excreted more then normal or chemicals being excreted less then normal?

Would it ultimately be that some certain brain chemicals are not being produced in normal?

Its kind of hard to understand and put in words what im trying to say, Thanks

yes i know but there are involuntary things that are supposed to happen that are considered normal, but then there are involuntary things that occur after you have went through some trauma of some sort, for example twitching or something. Im only taking about these involunraty actions that are not considered normal, would these be caused by underlying of unnormal brain chemistry?

Actually, its both.

For example Parkinson's happen due to he degeneration of neurons that release dopamine, which is a brain chemical. People with parkinsons have a presistant tremor (such as using hands in the form of rolling a pill) and they also have trouble in movement and getting their muscles to work.

However, on the other hand Huntington's is the opposite of Parkinsons. Dopamine is release more than normal. The symptoms of Huntington usually occur in the form of wild and jerky movements.

The brain is not the only thing that causes involuntary muscle movement. If your blood calcium level falls too low for example, neurons become overactive and send messages that causes your muslces to go into uncontrollable spasms.

Pretty sure no one here will be able to give an honestly accurate and educated answer unless they've studied neurobiology or biology in detail.

Not always. Should there have been something wrong with my breakfast and my body involuntarily can't digest it properly involuntarily resulting in diarrhea it has nothing to do with brain chemistry.

okay but that happens once in a while what if it was persistent and consistent. Would it then be it?

1.) Not always IN the brain per se. such chemical changes are also found in the periphery. Too much or too little can cause involuntary twitching. For example, in a state of having too much Calcium throughout your body, the muscles can contract/tense up (aka tetany). You can see this if you soak a disembodied muscle in a calcium solution.

2.) Also, not always a CHEMICAL problem, as a physical / anatomical abnormality in the brain or nervous system can cause uncontrollable movements. For example, people with Huntington's disease have structurally broken brain cells. When certain areas of their brain are affected, they have this uncontrollable neck twist motion that they do. The chemicals themselves may be normal levels, but the brain parts are messed up in a molecular level. There are other examples of larger structural problems causing seizures, like cancer, traumatic brain injury, strokes, brain tuberculosis or even worm larva in the brain.

3.) you can even have physical problems in the spinal cord or nerves outside the brain causing these problems. example: rabies causes involuntary motions as it affects nerve tracts connecting the brain to the muscles.

The brain is still poorly understood. It is an extremely complex organ that is difficult to study. Certain behaviors can be the result of "chemcial imbalances". but it is usually not as simple as that. There are often multiple complex processes that can cause specific behavior.

"Brain chemistry" is often misused. As if the cause of someting stems from an imbalance of chemicals in the brain. more often than not, the chemical composition in the brain is perfectly fine.

An involuntary, undesired function in your body could stem from plenty of places. Nerve damage is a frequent cause of involuntary shaking (usually to their hands/arms).
