If You Cheated on Your Partner, Would You Tell Him/Her?

The topic is pretty much self explanatory. But I want to go a bit further and ask, if you would tell your partner that you cheated, why would you do so? And if you wouldn't tell your partner, again, why would you do so?

As for me, not that I plan to cheated when I'm in a fully comitted relationship(i.e, marriage) but if it ever does happen, I would refrain from telling my partner because well, what you don't know won't hurt you. It sounds a bit selfish but if you knew that the affair was just a one time mistake then I see no reason to open Pandora's box.

So what would you do? Discuss.

I would never cheat.

However, if someone kissed me or something like that I would tell him.

I have once before when I was extremely drunk and I told her as soon as I sobered up. I knew something happened between me and two other girls but I didn't know what until friends of mine told me. Kind of wish they didn't. Needless to say she broke up with me. Took me a long time to forgive myself honestly.

There's no merit to honesty after committing adultery. She's never going to trust again. And even if she did manage to stick with you, she'll be all paranoid and sh!t. Forget about it, if she has no way of finding out then you keep it to yourself otherwise you might as well break up.

Yeah, I'd tell her; even though it would probably end in my getting dumped. I'd feel really guilty if I didn't.

... but I would't cheat on her.

In the very early/late stages of a hypothetical relationship where commitment is weak I'd feel less inclined to tell her.

No. Why would I do that? I cheated on them and I dont wanna purposely cause heated tension. But I would never cheat on my partner.

If asked or caught, yes.

Otherwise, I'd keep my mouth shut.

But that's provided I even cheated in the first place. It would have to be REALLY worth it.

I'd be too guilty to not tell them.
