The idea of being able to create religion is absolutely terrifying...,.
Imagine diplomacy in a world where absolute truth, differs by region....
I'm depressed now.....

Greek Mythology, definitely.

Yes because Minotaurs, Hydras and Cyclops running wild would be awesome...
Is it any different than Muslim extremists and other fanatics that we have today? My religion is that your religion is false.[QUOTE="MetalDogGear"][QUOTE="N30F3N1X"]

*yawn* Pathetic trolling attempt.
Your original statement is a pathetic trolling attemptJainism. It has weird teachings, but none of them are particularly harmful to people (well, aside from the zealous fasting, but that's an endeavor undertaken willingly).

Nah, you just have an extremely shallow understanding of what philosophy and religion "mean".
Know that your ignorance is not any different from the one religious fanatics have. The world is colorful, unlike what you and they may think.

It's a stupid statement How could ALL religions be TRUE? How is my made up religion that says that all religions are false, any less true than any other religion? What the?
The only right answer would be a religion that would get us all to paradise or heaven, guaranteed.
the native american one with the happy hunting grounds is probably the only one i would want to have anything to do with.
the big religions afterlives look pretty stupid to me i have no clue why anyone would want to go there.
the muslims with their erotic creepy uncle afterlives and the christians with their greed filled mansions and streets of gold.
the two biggies look like they have afterlives designed by the most morally bankrupt pieces of garbage that ever lived.

And you insulting me instead of providing an actual argument just proves that you're blowing smoke out of your ass.All of them are true. What the hell are you talking about?British_AzimioThey're all equally valid. But there's no evidence to say that any of them are true.
I called it stupid yeah. But I went on to ask how could all of them be true And provided an example.[QUOTE="MetalDogGear"]
Funny, could've sworn you did the exact same thing ;)

If you're saying that all religions are equally valid then I misunderstood you. I agree with that But the word "True" just gave me a different mindset[QUOTE="British_Azimio"]All of them are true. That's sort of what I meant, but I can't be assed to into the full details of my reasoning.

Yes, perhaps that would have been best.
I meant to say different religions look at the same things with different sets of eyes. For example, I believe the idea behind the concept of god is not that of a personified, conscious being, but rather the things that act outside our perception and that we have no control over, much similar to the more intuitive and widespread concept of karma, which puts more emphasis on what a person does. The entirety of the greek, roman or egyptian pantheons wouldn't be far different.
Metaphors like that are intentionally put in place so that every person may interpret them and have his own cauldron of beliefs.
Norse mythology, I suppose....
I believe that one actually leaves us options, unlike the disgusting hatocracy, which our entire world is dominated by...

Then I apologize for insulting you.
And I admit my mistake.

It's okay, it was me who misspoke first.
It's alright. We're cool now ;pNone. Religion shouldn't be about true or false, it should be about culture and finding peace with one's surroundings. I'd rather make it so that people stop trying to defend religion as true, which would basically mean an end to outlandish metaphysical claims and superstitious beliefs.
[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="Laihendi"] No I mean a literal realization of only what Tolkien wrote.Laihendi
I know what you meant.
I don't think Frodo and Gandalf are in the bible. They aren't a religion however. Well, scratch that, sorta. Gandalf is essentially an angelic being (of a lesser order). The closest thing to religion in Tolkien's works is pretty obviously influenced by his Catholic beliefs.

Tolkien's works concerning middle-earth is a giant mythology, and that mythology includes Frodo. A mythology is just a religion that people don't believe in anymore.[QUOTE="worlock77"][QUOTE="Laihendi"] I don't think Frodo and Gandalf are in the bible.Laihendi

I love Tolkien as much as the next guy, but he didn't write a religion. Don't make Tolkien the next L. Ron Hubbard. He wrote a story- not an organized set of beliefs and practices. Your first two sentences contradict. Nobody believed his story was real- therefore it wasn't a religion, by your standards.wOAH, i HAVEN'[T seen YOU for a WHILE Eh? YOU'VE been taking a BREAK HAVE you or have HAVE you not been? Oh, uh, um YES.Christianity isn't a religion so i say all religions are bull Sh!t

Hm...maybe the Bible was like Lord of the Rings. In that it wasn't suppose to be taken seriously, but all the fans obsessed over it.. Kind of like the Church of the Holy Jedi. Please Log In to post.
