This is the stupidiest thing i've ever heard. If you'd sacrifice yourself to save the person you'd love, they'd be depressed because their mistake caused you to sacrifice yourself for them. Not to mention you'd be dead, and eventually your "soul mate" would get over you and find a better man/woman to be happy with.
If anything it's selfish, you'd be forcing your partner into sadness and depression, just because you're scared of being sad and depressed.

I was talking about a situation where I could only save my self or her and in that case I would save her over my self.
Of course if I could save both of us I would. I'm not that stupid that I would just sacrifice my self randomly if it wasn't called for. Sure maybe it is a bit selfish in the end but I would rather die knowing that I saved her life. Then spend the rest of my life without her knowing that I could have saved her.
