Selfish reasons...change a certain decision I made -would not change any major world event b/c who knows what would happen (Stop Hitler could have had worse consequences for example) That or just go back and 'watch' for the LULZ
I would go back to yesterday and buy myself a winning lotto ticket. I don't think too much would change over a day so I wouldn't worry about changes to the present, and I would be have the wealth to then do whatever I want for the rest of my life. TX lotto was around $30 million which is more than enough to last me a lifetime.
Anything else would possibly cause too much change in the present.
I wouldn't do a thing. I'd be too reminded of that Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode where Homer goes back in time using the toaster and ends up killing off dinosaurs and changing the future.

Time traveling won't make you a super spy, able to break enemy lines and steal weapons devices. The only bad thing about traveling back in time to invest in Microsoft is that back in the 1980s you couldn't log on to the net and trade stocks. If you went to a broker they'd probably laugh at you. Even if they didn't they'd likely make you buy hundreds or thousands of shares at a time... which takes a good bit of free money. Traveling back with a suitcase fool of today's monopoly-looking money won't get you too far. But yeah, assuming I could time travel and everything would somehow work correctly, I'd buy MS as well. The only difference is that i'd set it to cash out 25% of it the same year that I hit 7th grade and have a check delivered to my address. Not only would I be set for life, but that cash out would probably radically alter my life from 7th grade on. Bestest adolescence ever.
