Everyone who is currently HIV positive will die.

Do you push it?

Note: No one can trace the button-pushing back to you.

Pros:

1. More people can't be infected
2. Babies (aww we all love innocent babies) won't be infected through birth
3. Population control (some would argue that it's necessary)
4. It would help a lot of problems in places like Africa if they were able to rebuild as a people and starvation rate would diminish
5. The races would be able to further flourish because there would be one less huge world-problem.
6. Money is constantly being poured into the AIDS organizations; assuming that this is a magical button and no "cleanup" would be necessary, that money could go elsewhere.

Cons:

1. You're killing a bunch of people which may or may not bother you for the rest of your life.
2. Everyone has the right to live.

The eradication of HIV would obviously be a beneficial thing in the abstract, but the precise reason why it would be a benificial thing is because people wouldn't die from the disease anymore. To bring millions upon millions of people to their untimely deaths, especially given how much more managable HIV is today compared to how it used to be, would, to me, destroy the entire purpose of eradicating HIV.
