so I guess it is the parents who are mindless sheep no?

Either way, there are plenty of mindless people in society, yes?

we as a society are always willing to and enjoy putting people up on pedestals to destroy them. We damn them for being their messed up selves, we damn them for being perfect, we damn them for catering to our whim, and damn them for not caring.

Damn celebities! Why can't they ever win!:P

It follows the same reasoning as to why successful child stars have a hard time transitioning to more adult roles ... because the masses have a hard time grasping the idea that they get older. Its silly but its true.

So what did we learn from all of this? Is it our faults or theirs? To me, it's a factor of many things at fault I guess. I'm confused now. Oh why do I debate things with women?

is this one of those deals where they complain about being rich and famous? These celebrities have everything, not being able to shop at a cheap mall is just a small sacrifice, considering they can go out and buy a brand new Lambo every week and not even care....

[QUOTE="Xx_Hopless_xX"]

[QUOTE="Sajedene"] We can use that arguement that children/tweens are mindless sheep - I for one know many kids at that age who could care less for them and far be it for me to call them mindless sheep. Also, at that age, many of them rely on their parents to purchase said stuff, so I guess it is the parents who are mindless sheep no? And lol @ susan boyle :P My point is we as a society are always willing to and enjoy putting people up on pedestals to destroy them. We damn them for being their messed up selves, we damn them for being perfect, we damn them for catering to our whim, and damn them for not caring. And to MuddVader, Disney stars are the pretty prominent 'guilty' ones but it is prevalent through out the industry. It follows the same reasoning as to why successful child stars have a hard time transitioning to more adult roles ... because the masses have a hard time grasping the idea that they get older. Its silly but its true.Sajedene

We could do this the easy way and say everyones a mindless sheep except a select few...or we could argue...and i'll probably lose...your choice 8)..

Big Brother is watching and he loves you. I would never! :o The thing is, we can and should act like ourselves. We're humans, we mess up, we make mistakes. But we also enjoy putting people down to make us feel better and then riding on their success to get a high. Otherwise, we really shouldn't care about celebrities. But we do and the media caters to it, and we continue creating mediums to fuel it, and until we all individually not care enough to post in a thread about them so that people will stop making them (OT speaking) and stop buying into their antics, which is the only reason why paparazzi follow them around - then they will be here to stay, doing their own thing, acting like 'themselves', and we just gotta suck it up and deal with it and quit whining about how much we hate them? yes? no?

I don't mess up i'm perfect ...but yeah, no whining is necessary...i just express how much i despise their music...:|..but i try not to post in threads about them. Wouldn't you rather hear something like Disturbed and Testament?...I would...and i don't like the fact that this "Disney music" presents children with false hope..no one lives a happy carefree life...and life isn't all "happy happy i haz a boyfriend/girlfriend"...

I'd give everyone that tried to solicit photos of me the finger and I'd curse like a sailor. This would keep me out of most of the celebrity cross hairs and I wouldn't be lying to people. They'd have to censor every sentence out of me. Unless I'm doing something because I want to such as an interview or an autograph signing or something, I'm not getting paid for it, therefore people who take my picture get the profits. They don't deserve anything from me but anger and spite.

I'd be myself.....and since myself is so full of awesomeness and win...society would be impressed and better by just following my example..Omni-Slash
I know one thing...I'd probably read a lot less new books...I like sentences to end occasionally...with periods, because that's how it's supposed to work...that's what they taught me in first grade anyway...

I'd be myself, I wouldn't become famous by not being myself so I wouldn't see the need to change after I became famous, I might make a little effort to doing a few more upstanding things. But overall I'd still be myself.

I despise Hollywood, but I don't so much blame the celebrities for their atrocious influence on politics and society. It's more the fault of the entertainment press for giving them so much power.

Well ... lets take youtube for example. Media and marketing at its finest... what seperates guy with 1,000 views vs a guy with 10,000 views? Both have excellent, hilarious videos, both have utilized the internet and the media to promote their skills... but....?

I'd go with the latter. Unless the real me was some violent, criminally-stupid cokehead then that would be a problem, but since I'm not such a person then being exactly who I am in the public eye wouldn't be so much of a problem.

I will go with giving people what they want. I'm not sure how or what made me achieve the status of a celebrity overnight, but in any case I would be on my best behavior and give my fans what they want. Afterall, if I am a celebrity I am "technically" working for my fans right?

This might not sound fair to all of the celebrities out there but, if I am in the eye of the public and kids look up to me as a role model (or at least the society expects me to be a role model) then a role model I will become and a role model is what people will see when they look at me. I might not get to live in a manner consistent with my private belief, but I believe there is a price to pay when people become a celebrity and that price is your privacy.

I would rather spend a year in prison than two years in the media spotlight. Throughout the centuries people from all over the world have sacrificed countless lives in the pursuit of freedom, and I would only wish fame on someone I hated passionately.

I can accept that there are those who willingly sacrifice their right to freedom in exchange for money and fame. However, I cannot endure them milking the spotlight to tell lengthy sob stories about being in the spotlight. There's a trade off with everything in life, a yin to every yang... You can't say, "I want to be rich and famous, but I also want to be left alone to live my life as I please". The world just doesn't work that way. It sickens me to my soul hearing celebrities whinge about the burdens placed upon them by the very people that provide them with the privileged lives they so desperately wanted. That's like asking someone for fifty bucks, then hating them for giving it to you! It's as ridiculous as wanting to be a carpenter but not wanting to use a hammer.

Any one of these celebrities could quite easily relocate, stop making movies/ music/ etc, get an ordinary job and fade into the shadows of obscurity to be forgotten. But that's not what they want. If the media ignored them and nobody cared what they were doing, they'd be crying about not getting enough attention. The joke is that there are probably people with cancer feeling genuinely sorry for the rich and famous. The bigger joke is that they're right to do so.
