incest is illegal too...
Even if it is illegal why would you discrimnate them? They follow all of your guidlines for a marriage...
geez..does the word "illegal" mean anything anymore?
last i checked..if you do something illegal in the US, you face criminal penalty under the Constitution
But the reason incest is illegal is to protect them from having off-sprig because most inbreed kids have serious problems. What do/did gay people do wrong?
[QUOTE="SouthernPride10"]..does that make me a bad person?..
i dont think so..
but before you all go "AHHHH HOMOPHOBE OMG OMG OMG!!!"..let me explain why..
first of all..theres a reason why marriage is between a man & a woman..if 2 dudes or 2 ladies can some how have a kid together..(& i dont mean any of this adoption BS)..then by all means..let them have the same benefits..but last i checked..it is impossible for g@y couples to reproduce.
Another thing..if you legalize g@y marriage..then that would open the door for all sorts of weird fetishes..it would only be a matter of time before people start raising crap about wanting to marry their farm animals..

No, it doesn't make you a bad person. Homosexuality is a sin, always has been, and always will be. However, you should hate the sin and love the sinner, so as long as you don't judge someone on his sexuality, you're not a bad person.

so you guys want gays to be able to marry because "they have rights to!??"CWEBB04z
everyone has a right to do whatever they want so long as they don't initiate force against others. that's why government and state-sanctioned marriage is wrong, do you understand? government is force. whether or not gay people can or should marry isn't even an important topic, and people's opinions about it don't matter.
Should inter-religious marriages be allowed?
Should inter-racial marriages be allowed?
Keep in mind that only 200 years ago, most of you would probably be saying "Absolutely not. It's just not right."
"A black man marrying a white woman? Let's lynch him!!"
Anyway, if "it's just not right" is the best argument that you can come up with, then the hell with you. I take delight in knowing that gay marriage WILL eventually be legal in the entire United States. And that you're going to die old and unhappy just because yoiu can't get over the fact that somewhere in the USA, one dude is having sex with another dude and getting the same benefits that you used to get before your wife died of old age.

Should have the same rights as any other human being in the USA, so yeah....I figure as much. That, along with separation of church and state should pretty much seal the deal.
Honestly, I always thought marriage was a really good way of two people showing their love and devotion for each other. I mean, it's not everyday that two incredibly fertile people hook up randomly and get married because they have potential to be awesome breeders.

One of the things that piss me off the most in life are douchebags who think it's their right and duty to tell people what they can and can't do based on the fact that "they don't think it's right." or use some bull**** religous rhetoric to back themselves up. I don't understand, why can't a homosexual couple enjoy the same privaleges as a straight couple? What have they done that's so bad that they must be discriminated? As long as they're not harming me I really don't care. It's their life and their business, what gives me or you the right to tell them if they can or can't get married?
**** people who think they have a right to tell others how to live their lives. **** people who think they have a right to take away a privalege that humans have had for centuries. They have a right to happiness and if marriage makes them happy **** you for wanting to deny that right.
These people who believe that homosexuals don't deserve to get married are the same as people in the past who believed blacks were inferior to whites and should be denied certain rights. **** them.

Doesn't look right?
I don't think daisies look good planted in front of brick, but my neighbour is allowed to do it anyways.
I don't think fanny packs look right, yet so many wear them.
I don't think mullets look right, but some people ****their hair that way anyways.
I don't think wood-grain paneling on cars looks right, but it', for some reason, sold as an option on some cars.
I don't think it looks right for people to park cars on their lawn and leave their drive-way empty...but it happens.
Shall I go on? It's all trivial. I remember in "American Beauty", the military father and his son are in the car and see the gay couple jogging, and the dad wonders if they have no shame, and the son replies that maybe they don't feel shame in it at all.
They shouldn't. You might not like how it looks, but there are a lot of things that don't look right that should be focused on, such as bars on windows in crime-ridden areas of cities. Broken down local commercial areas due to decades of defeat from big box companies like Walmart. People on the streets from unemployment. Bad education ratings across the school boards.
Doesn't look right? Jeez.

Usually familial and financial reasoning for that. Fertility usually isn't judged in that kind of thing, seeing as in countries that endorse arranged marriages, virginity is also a protected commodity in women.

Hrm, it would "ruin marriage"? More than the approximate 50% divorce rate does? That's quite a high bar for us to beat...xaos
The high divorce rate can likely be attributed to the "no-fault divorce act" signed in 1970.

Agreed: 1 a (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2) : the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage b : the mutual relation of married persons : WEDLOCK c : the institution whereby individuals are joined in a marriage 2 : an act of marrying or the rite by which the married status is effected; especially : the wedding ceremony and attendant festivities or formalities 3 : an intimate or close union Unless the text is encoded cleverly, no mention of children, to say nothing of the many childless couples in the world.Once again religion has to mess **** up for everyone. Don't like gay marriage? Fine, don't. But just because YOU think that it should only be between a man and a woman, don't impose YOUR crap on OTHER people. Ha i agree with thread title but your reasoning is pretty bad.
There aren't very many good non-religious arguments against homosexual marriage (or homosexuality in general), but here are a few, just to put them out there:
In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from its list of diagnostic disorders. In retrospect, this decision appears to have been inspired by political pressure rather than medical evidence.
Homosexuals of both sexes remain fourteen times more likely to attempt suicide than heterosexuals and 3½ times more likely to commit suicide successfully
Study after study shows that male and female homosexuals have much higher rates of interpersonal maladjustment, depression, conduct disorder, childhood abuse (both sexual and violent), domestic violence, alcohol or drug abuse, anxiety, and dependency on psychiatric care than heterosexuals.
Life expectancy of homosexual men was only forty-eight years before the AIDS virus came on the scene, and it is now down to thirty-eight. Only 2 percent of homosexual men live past age sixty-five.
One study in San Francisco showed that 43 percent of male homosexuals had had more than 500 sexual partners (implying that homosexuals are in fact not as sexually satisfied as heteros).
There is little good data on the stability of lesbian relationships, but it is reasonable to speculate that their higher rates of promiscuity and various deep-seated psychological problems would predispose them to long-term relational instability.
In some studies, children raised by homosexual partners seem to suffer from sex-role confusion.
Again, I'm just putting these out there because of the lack of solid non-religious arguments. The most startling one I think is that the average homosexual lives to 38. In my opinion, a lifestyle that cuts expectancy in half is not good.
"It's not that I hate gays. I just don't want them to be equal to me."
MrGeezer
True, but I have come to believe that's the way society had to evolve, into considering everyone equal, gay people are equals to me, they can have the same jobs as me, study where I study, live and do whatever the feel to; but what I don't like is for them to pretend that they can have more rights than me because they like the same sex, society is about everyone having the same possibilities and rights, what they do with them is their choice; we can't allow a small minority to muscle their way into creating new laws just for them, or to change civil rights for them so they feel like a familiy; in the legal and pollitical way; we are equal and they can't have more rights than me.
Once again religion has to mess **** up for everyone. Don't like gay marriage? Fine, don't.
