Greetings my dearest friends. Been while since since Euro 2016, eh. How is it going?

Soooo... over the past couple of years, I seem to have lost a lot of hair. People kept telling me that all the time, but I kept dismissing and denying, until last month when I finally realized and admitted that I've lost a good load of hair. Thirty percent of the whole thing, at least. Oh and for the record, I'll be 23 years old just in seven days.

What's really shocking here is that, my brother, father, uncle and grand-father all have crazy full hair, the kind that is guaranteed to fully regrow lifelong. Twice as full as mine. I'm the only defect among them. I suspected that could have something to do with depression and anxiety, but the doc said I must've inherited some bad genes from my mother's side of the family (maternal grand-dad or uncle). I've taken his medication for roughly a month, but, you guessed it, no results thus far.

This thing has literally blown me off my mood, gnawing away at my confidence (and most likely, reducing my chances of getting laid from nearly zero to absolutely zero :P). For instance I missed today's Russian class because I looked at the mirror in the rest room five minutes before the class started off, and I was absolutely depressed by what I saw, so much so that I decided to skip the class altogether and go home and take a nap (duh, that's stupid I know).

SO my dearest buds, what do you think? Have you experienced hair loss? If yes, how did you mange to overcome the grief? Have you got any tips for you little kid brother?

That sucks man, I was going to suggest consulting with your doctor but it seems you already did that. While I got a full set of hair I prefer to shave it off so I would suggest the same. Have you ever shaved your head? Do you look good? If you have money then maybe hair plugs?

I have considered hair plugs but like you say, it's expansive, too rich for my blood. And it's not just that; I don't know about Puerto Rico but some of the hair plug works I've seen around here have been awful, so ugly that you prefer baldness any day of the week :D

I have also considered shaving. I definitely never looked all that great even with full hair (I believe I posted a photo of myself in OT a couple of years back), but clean-shaving seems to be the only feasible choice for my situation.

And it's nice to see you around, Master.

There is prescription medication available to stop/significantly slow down your loss and thicken what you have left.

Go see a dermatologist and ask them about it.

I already visited a dermatologist almost a month ago. I've taken his prescription since then, but I haven't felt anything positive thus far. That said, the guy said the medication (a pill and an external solution) takes three months of continued use to start showing results, which leaves some faint hope.

Take anti DHT shampoo/conditioner as well. For most people who cannot afford transplants etc, it's a case of just accepting it.

It's prob a deal now because it's new, scary and probably makes you feel older than you are. Give it time, you won't give a shit.

Tbh mate if you are feeling emotions such as grief and self pity you are better off shaving it and growing accustomed to that new shaven look. At least then you will not be feeling grief and loss, hopefully some excitement and anticipation of a drastic change and a new look instead.

I think my hair will be on its way out before im 40 (27 now) but im in the gym anyway trying to pack on a few pounds of muscle, if im successful then im going to go for a buzz cut and already have myself a full thick beard.

Despite how shitty your situation may feel your very fortunate to be male. Hair is not the root of our masculinity and the ability to shave it all off but retain your masculinity and look normal in the eyes of society is something to be happy about.

Male balding has been par of the course now for thousands of years. Whilst its depressing seeing your body go through changes you are unprepared for, and experiencing prematurely....its fine. Its perfectly normal. Just embrace it. Your so young most people will assume you chose a shaved head by choice before they assume it was due to hair loss.

One day, probably after we've lost our hair, there'll be a gene therapy to prevent balding, probably just a shot like a vaccine, introduce a virus that alters the DNA and there you go, you won't bald. They'll probably come up with all kinds of concoctions too, stuff to increase your intelligence to keep your brain metabolism up, between the age of 5 and into your early adult years, like 60% of all glucose gets used up by the brain in its development, as you get older that levels off at 20%, then in older years it's worse. That also explains when you get older why the pounds seem to pack on easier... anyhow, they'll be able to do that. They can alter our DNA to make us stronger, more motivated, more driven, to rise our IQs. It won't be like that movie GATTACCA where people are determined at birth for greatness, rather people will get tailored booster shots to enhance themselves, just a shot in the arm. Who knows, maybe they'll cure diseases this way, have a fresh set of adult teeth come in every 20 years, maybe aging. And when that day comes, we'll be among the unlucky few who were born too late to take full advantage of such things, it's a more proactive and preventative process against natures course. Then again, the world is looking grim these days. Anti-science anti-intellectualism is rampant and maybe we won't reach that point of scientific benefit to society.

Anyhow, for we unlucky few destined to degenerate, the balding look works for some. Make it work for you. Nothing is more pathetic than people trying to hide their baldness in the worst ways, like the comb over...

Make sure it isn't your shampoo that is causing it.

I would just shave it, grow a beard, and get the top of your head some tan.

It's no shave November, best time to grow a beard!

Go to docs and say your a bit worried and ask for a blood test or any other test. Not saying it be something bad you got but might be a under line issue. But a lot of people do loose hair young. If your worried I would go to docs for advice. If receptionist ask what the problem is just say. I'm loosing my hair guess where.

On a plus side it will save you money at the hair dresses.

Realistically it can take up to a year or even two in some people to see the full effect.

Just keep it really short until it gets worse then shave it that's what I'm doing. Everyone else in my family has hair but I didn't get as lucky. It isn't really considered unusual for a man to shave his head anymore. Pretty common look.

@PSP107: Yes all health care is free on NHS. Although there clamping down and now receptionist got to ask what symptoms are and they decide on what best. Which I just did that last month and had to explain why I wanted to see doc while the waiting room and queue was full. That was kind of embarrassing. Note to do with why i saw the doc last month but My kidney failed 12 years ago and been on dialysis for 4 years which at the time cost the NHS £250,000 a year and ive also had a kidney transplant 9 years ago which cost the NHS another £500,000 per person. I'm also on one of most expensive medications around which I get free. I recently moved and only been where I am now 2 years. When changing doctors and chemist the chemist went off on one as the chemist didn't want to do the tabs I'm on as there loads a money. I think there about £500 per box for NHS.

If I lived in US or any where else I think I be dead by now. Which I am great full for the NHS and with all the migrants coming and cut backs from the government it going to get worse. They are starting a scheme where if your despite to see doc that day and no appointment that there going to charge you and get in that day. I don't see that taking off as people who work pay national insurance and that where the money comes from for the NHS.

Dude. I got laid more after I was bald. Hair on your head does NOT define you as a male to the opposite sex. Get in shape. Grow a beard and for god sake act like a male and not a pussy like society is trying to mold us and and you will be surprised about how women will react.

Stress can cause it. After you remove the stress it would grow back if that's the reason for it. Either way don't sweat it. It happens to a lot of people and it's just a part of life. Women tend to care about personality more than looks, they will usually go for a funny charismatic guy over a good looking guy with no personality.

Shave it and grow a beard. Seriously, most women don't give a shit how you look. Look around in public and you will usually see a fat ugly dude with a hot girlfriend/wife because he has a good personality. Women want someone that makes them laugh and has confidence.

Yeah my late maternal grandpa, his son my uncle, and one of my uncle's sons, the oldest one.

The grandpa was actually dead before I was born but I believe his hair wasn't all that strong (and my mother testifies that he used to shave his head, like many of our dear pals are suggesting in this page!) My Uncle also has thin hair but he's 60 years old. I'd say his hair has had a very good run. His oldest son though has very poor hair at the age of 35.

Yes excellent point. I frequently come across with fat bald guys, hand in hand with super hot girls, wives. But I tell myself, as ugly as he is, he's lucky.

You know, there's a Persian proverb in this regard: "The idiot has the beautiful red apple." [while the wise men are dying of hunger]

But point taken. Looks don't count all that much against strong personality.

The doc said stress alone can't cause this. There must be an underlying genetic defect. I have largely removed the stress from my life in the past six months, but the loss doesn't seem to have stopped. So the doc was probably right.

These are some the best advice I heard. Assuming that the numbers in your profiles indicate your birth years, this is even more valuable, coming from people having roughly twice as my age as experience :D

It's most likely genetic. There are lifestyle changes you can make to reduce the rate of loss: diet, exercise, manage stress. There are tablets (finasteride) and other products (Rogaine) that can be used to reduce the rate of loss and, in some cases, even lead to regrowth. Rogaine is pretty expensive where I live but it's easy and cheap to make. You can check out some pharmacies and ask if they'll make it for you.

baldness is a sign of masculinity because all adult men lose their headhair when they have a certain amount of testostorone levels.

It could also be hereditary but when you pack something significant, chances are your hair just falls out because of testostorone.

You might look int the mirror and see you lost that boyish look but trust me , women like men better.

Btw: I'm not bald and i'm 38. Some of my friends are bald though, but they also have bigger d..., Mine is good enough though but still, I would trade the hair lol

How does that work? Does the policy cover international?

No idea my mum and dad sorted it all out after we came back to UK. Which took a couple of month. I think it helped that it came on all off a sudden and wasn't ill and knew about the seizures be for hand. I was on slot machine and both my mum and dad was round the corner and all of a sudden they heard this big moan and me on floor having a seizure. They didn't no what was happening. The funny thing is at the time back in 2001 you still could use coins and carry that big tub round with you. I had almost a full tub of quarters which went up in the air and all over place. I have been back since while on dialysis twice. Latest back in 2008 and now when you win you have to collect a ticket from machine which didn't feel the same as hearing all the coins coming out when you win.

Dude. I got laid more after I was bald. Hair on your head does NOT define you as a male to the opposite sex. Get in shape. Grow a beard and for god sake act like a male and not a pussy like society is trying to mold us and and you will be surprised about how women will react.

Good words. I'm on course to do the same. Want to drop some lbs. and tone up, then shave off the ol' mop.
