I'm not either. It'd be my first one, but I honestly don't care for either of the candidates and I still haven't even registered.

If you don't vote, you shouldn't complain. Write-in a candidate if you don't even like the 3rd party options, just for principle's sake.MAILER_DAEMONWell, I was mainly lurking at the time, but didn't you all ban that Banjo guy (yall prolly do not remember him) for arguing politics alot. I mean do you prefer someone obsessed with politics or someone who never talks about it.
I say wise move. Neither candidate is being wise and honest with us. Its a choice between bad and worse.

You do realize that this is a republic with an electoral college?
The "wise" move is to participate in state and local elections to get more third parties into congress. Just like the Tea Party did to the Republican party back in 2010. The only way to change the two-party system is to reduce their congressional dominance. Not voting only helps the two-party system.

You can help these candidates get local seats, but instead want to cater to the two party system and think somehow not voting is going to stop the electoral college from picking a President.

wasnt gonna vote, but parents are making me.
no idea who im voting for. probly obama.
though i doubt it would matter. our votes dont really do anything.
not much will change no matter who become president. imo.
[QUOTE="tagyhag"]As long as electoral voting is in place; nope.OyVayWell I know if Banjo was here, he might be able to convince some of you to vote *looks at mods*... Do the right thing. Anyways what is your problem with electoral voting, buddy? It's an archaic system that made sense during the colonial times. That and, I live in California, thanks to the electoral system, no matter who I vote for, Dems will win the state.

Firstly, as if the election would have turned out any differently regardless of whether or not he voted. Secondly, assuming that his vote actually does matter, then he just as well loses his right to complain by voting for the wrong candidate. Write in a candidate? Seriously? Is that a freaking joke? That has the EXACT same effect as not voting at all.

Yes, vote in local and state elections. Your vote can have a much larger impact there. As for the electoral college, start asking your state legislatures to introduce legislation to change your state from a winner-takes-all system to a proportional system. Afterall, it is up to each state how they divvy up their electoral votes.[QUOTE="MAILER_DAEMON"]If you don't vote, you shouldn't complain. If you don't bother to vote then you don't have the right to complain. You are part of the problem.

Exactly. It's your right not to vote, but then don't complain about whichever candidate gets elected.
I think everyone who is eligible should exercise their right to vote (especially outside of federal elections - i.e. state and local). However, voting in the United States isn't compulsory.
