bigger the better. and get the best black contrast possible.N8Awith the economy the way its going and holiday season looming there should be some great deals on these.
Peronally I would go with the Samsung as they have excellent picture quality, good value, and are reliable. I don't know about the Toshiba, but I've had bad experience with LG's. I'd also stay away from Vizio. If you're looking for a cheap HD tv, they are a good value but in terms of reliability and picture quality they don't compare with Sony or Samsung. You get what you pay for I guess.
Also, I'd stay away from Best Buy as their customer services sucks and they don't stand behind their products, even with the extended warranty program. I lived out in the boonies and I purchased the extended warranty for my tv because if it is 40" or larger they will come to your house, pick it up, fix it, and then deliver it. When I first started having problems with my LG Best Buy wouldn't honor the service warranty because they said it was still covered by the manufacturer. I checked and it would have cost a lot to send in for repair to LG. So I then told asked Best Buy if they would fix it when my manufacturer's warranty had expired. They apologized and said they couldn't because they were already aware of the problem and that I was out of luck. I haven't done business with Best Buy since.
I'd also stay away from Wal-Mart. I've been told that the tv's they sell had problems coming of the assembly line and didn't pass the quality department, are fixed, and then sold to Wal-Mart at a reduced rate. So you're effectively purchasing a tv that has already had problems.
If you're going LCD, you HAVE to get 120Hz. I like Plasma more.Jandurin
I'm pretty impressed with my parents' plasma, but wow does that thing put of some heat. Personally the only reason I would go with plasma is if a lot of your viewing will be off center of the tv as plasmas have a much wider viewing angle than lcd.

The other 2 reasons: No response time (as little as is possible) and cheaper. And, yeah. Criminy. The Panasonic uses 628W or something. It's ridiculous. I'm paying a flat rate for utilities right now, though, so...And shouldn't you be working?Eddie5vs1:oops: It's Friday and no one is here? :P Honestly, I probably couldn't come up with more than 2 hours of work, even if I dug around for it. Everyone's on vacation the next few weeks. I just have a few very important things to do, but they don't take much time.

Jandurin has a good idea. Personally I'm old and uncomfortable with ordering large purchases off the internet, but I have a friend who has bought a couple of tv's off amazon. Their customer services is great and they stand behind their products. The nice thing about ordering off of Amazon is that you'll be able to get a bigger/better tv while still staying within your price range.

Yeah, my work blocks it.i would go for the Samsung, as their panel technology recently has leaped forward. The picture quality is excellent and they are reliable. I also dont like the looks of that LG very much. Gigagamer2This one also seems like a good price.http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN37A550-37-Inch-1080p-HDTV/dp/B00141AZR2/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=audio-video&qid=1223051160&sr=1-9

This link does show the Amazon price, the first one you showed was a different company's. The amazon price can still be found on the right under "this product is also available from these sellers:" Also, this tv is a decent price :) And I like Samsung better than LG. If I were getting LCD, I'd get Sony or Samsung.

wait what about the priceing i iz confuzeorz!Unforgiven2870When you're shopping on amazon, sometimes they're selling things from other companies. I'm just telling you to watch for who is the seller on the main page. http://www.amazon.com/LG-32LG60-32-Inch-1080p-Scarlet/dp/tech-data/B0018SS3UC/ref=de_a_smtd See? That one is shipped and sold by Beach Camera THROUGH Amazon, but Amazon's price is on the right under "More Buying Choices".
ohh ok i get it...I think i'll focus on that samsung one though.Unforgiven2870yeah, it's bigger AND cheaper. :P
[QUOTE="Unforgiven2870"]u know Samsung owns LG right? lolJandurinNo. I didn't :o
 I thought LG was owned by Zenith?!?

Jandurin's is on a roll today, lol. He's right again! Amazon sells some things through vendors. Basically the info is just on their servers. My wife recently bought a baker's rack from Amazon. She wasn't aware that it was actually being sold by a vendor as she was on Amazon's page. It took forever to get and wasn't as advertised. When we called to complain we held to deal with the vendor and they were no help at all. So, if you get a tv off of Amazon, just make sure it says, "Sold by Amazon" and you'll be fine.
