I was lucky enough to go to 2 different imaxes in 2 different states and I noticed in one imax in California, the screen was actually a dome. In another imax in NC, the screen was like a normal movie theater screen just much bigger. (and with slightly curved edges) I found it strange, I thought the "imax experience" was suppose to be exactly the same everywhere...

Is the imax where you live domed or normal?

There's a few in Calgary, only one (at the science centre) had a dome. The others were just gigantic movie screens.

Well there was the one in the Eau Clair shopping mall, but I think that might have closed recently. Then there's the other one in the Chinook mall. It doesn't actually show iMax movies, though, it just shows hollywood movies supersized on a huge screen. The Chinook mall is on the corner of Chinook and Macleod, I don't know the address of Eau Clair, but it's right by Prince's Island. But I've never heard of this Marble Kids Museum.

I've never been to a non-domed one. The only one I've been to, though, has been in NC, in the Discovery Place. (yeah, I'm cool)

I know the one at the Franklin Institute (Philadelphia) is domed, and the one at the Maryland Science Center is 'normal'. I'm not sure of the reasons, I suspect it has something to do with zoning and construction laws or some other inane reason.
