Independence Day sequel confirmed!

Roland Emmerich confirmed he's got a script and the only thing that's keeping it from entering production is that Fox doesn't agree to pay Will Smith's share of money! They even asked Emmerich if they couldn't do it without Smith!

Seriously, what's the point of an ID4 sequel without him?
This is not even a decision IMO. Either pay Smith his share (it would gross less without him anyway!) and make a crapload of money, or don't pay him and don't make any money because there will be no movie!

And why the hell do they stall the sequel to a movie everybody heard of and that made over 800 million dollars at the box-office?

If 2012 will be a huge hit (and will be, I mean even 10000 BC was one), I guess they'll greenlight this movie.

Yeah i didn't think they really left an opening for one...could be interesting to see how they tie them together i guess

isnt it a bit late for a sequal to this movie? Not to mention they saved the entire world from destruction so how do you top that? Also what are the odds the same guy does it twice?

No offense to anybody hoping this film gets made but I hope it never comes to be. The first movie stands on it's own just fine. Unless of course they provide a twist ending like the aliens winning.

A lot of people like to bash this movie and of course that's their right, but personally I enjoyed it. Sure it's not the greatest film of all time, but still a pretty decent and entertaining movie. I would like to see a sequel granted that they have a similar cast.

Maybe Fox knows that the first movie was just a fun silly movie and a second isn't likely to bring in nearly as much money. I don't side with movie excecs much, but I'd be skeptical too.duxup

War with the surviving aliens in post-apocalyptic Earth? The ships were huge, there must be millions of aliens that survived.

If you remember, we briefly saw some alien infantry and war machines in the mothership. They must've had some in the other UFOs too...

Maybe. I'm sure they could cook some story up, but we were lead to believe at the end of the film that all the aliens died.

I don't see a point in a sequel at all. The directorof ID did a horrible job. Plenty of bad, awkward acting moments in that movie.
