Being half Indian, I'm familiar with the Indian press/public's tendency to overdramatize things... usually it's a harmless tendency, but then things like this happen. :?Funkyhamster
So wait.. She thought it was a good idea to kill her self then and there.. Instead of waiting.. She must be the most impatient person ever.

That's like saying you should let zombies eat you alive rather than shoot yourself in the head somewhere quiet.
I don't know about indian culture, but in some cultures taking your own life is a way of controlling your destiny.jrhawk42
Well in my culture it's a way to affirm the fact that said person is an idiot.;)

The thought of being pulled into a black hole is probably worse than a slashed wrist or rope around the neck.

It would be instant death.

Yeah but wouldn't being pulled into a black hole be more painless in actuality?
Why would you commit suicide over a fear that you will die? That's just....contradictory.ithilgore2006
Yea, but maybe she thought their might be a lot of pain getting killed by the black hole if there would be one. It's sad...espcially if we don't die which I totally doubt we will. I'm sure Y2K caused some to commit suicide.
Edit:I'm not saying it is...I don't even think we know that :D But I'm sure it isn't common knowledge..though if she killed herself over it she might've seen that there is a lot of pain in it.

I wouldn't suicide but the thought of it is daunting, especially if you thought it would actually happen.

So is being caught in a tornado, or being on a derailed rollercoaster but I would rather hang.

Dying in a black hole would kick ass. First, you get torn in half, then again, then again, and again and again, and again, and again,[QUOTE="jaydough"] .... The Large Hadron Collider is deadly?SIapshotapparently
If you stand in between the colision - probably. Hell just being inside it when the magnets are on would probably blow a person to bits.

That's not the same thing. If you are pulled into a tornado you don't die instantly as most people are killed by flying debris inside the tornado or by being thrown hundreds of feet into the air and hitting the ground. Also you have to experience the derailed coaster because you don't die instantly once it derails. A black hole would destroy the earth in the blink of an eye so you wouldn't even have time to panic.

Dying in a black hole would kick ass. First, you get torn in half, then again, then again, and again and again, and again, and again,Not likely... just crushed quickly by intense gravitational pull which increases exponentially the closer to the middle you are.

What I am getting at is the illusion of control people like to have with their own lives.

The particles would pass right through you, but the vacuum would definitely kill you. I was being facetious, btw.The thing is, whatever experiment they are talking about, it wont lead to the end of the world.... Unless there was a nuclear explosive nearby. That is the funny thing, we have all these nukes that can basically destroy the world, over and over again, yet not one is truley worried about thaht fact. SegaGenesisfan
yes but we arent activly trying to unleash their power where as we are trying to recreate a blast so powerfull it created the entire universe

Its called Physics look into it.. Infact you would die before you even reached the event horizon or the matter flying around before it.. The gravity is so intense it will kill you before you get any where close to the black hole.

It's a pretty well known fact thanks to physics so you can keep your snarky remarks to yourself, thank you.
